PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act
of the General Assembly of New Zealand,
passed in the eighteenth year of the reign of
Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and entitled
"The Marriage Act, 1854," the following
Names of OFFICIATING MINISTERS, within the
meaning of the said Act, are published for
general information:--

Roman Catholic Church.
The Reverend PHILIP AIME MARTIN.
The Reverend JOHN CLAUDE CHERVIER.

Free Church of Scotland.
The Reverend J. F. RIEMENSCHNEIDER.

I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of
Births, Deaths, and Marriages in New Zea-
land, do hereby certify that the foregoing
NAMES of OFFICIATING MINISTERS, within
the meaning of "The Marriage Act, 1854,"
have been sent in to me, in addition to the Names
in Lists published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 6 of the 31st of January, No. 15 of the
21st of March, and No. 19 of the 17th of
April, in the present year.

Given under my hand, at Auckland,
this eighteenth day of April, 1861.

Notice under "Patent Act, 1860."

Auckland, 19th April, 1861.

WHEREAS JOHN PROBERT, of Chapel
Street, Auckland, in the Province of
Auckland, has left in my custody a specification
of a certain invention, claimed to have been
designed and originated by him for the prepa-
ration of New Zealand Flax, accompanied with
an explanation of the principles of such inven-
tion, and drawings with references thereto; and

whereas he has made application for the issue
to him of letters patent, under the "Patent
Act, 1860," for the exclusive use of the said
invention in the Colony.

Now therefore I, Charles Knight, Esquire,
the person duly appointed for this purpose under
the said Act, do hereby require any person who
may wish to prefer any objection to the grant-
ing of such letters patent, to send within four
months from the date of this publication to my
address a statement in writing, setting forth the
grounds of such objection, subscribed with his
proper name and address.

Notice under "Purchas and Ninnis Flax
Patent Act, 1860."

Auckland, 15th April, 1861.

WE, the Commissioners appointed under
"The Purchas and Ninnis Flax Patent
Act, 1860," hereby give notice that we have
appointed TUESDAY, the 23rd instant, at 11
o'clock in the forenoon, at the Government
Offices in Auckland, for investigating the
Petition of Arthur Guyon Purchas and James
Ninnis for Letters Patent under the said Act.
Dated the 15th day of April, 1861.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application will be
made to the General Assembly of New Zealand,
in the next Session thereof, for an Act to enable a certain
Banking Company, called the "Bank of New South
Wales," now carrying on the business of Bankers in
Australia, to establish Branches of the said Bank in New
Zealand aforesaid, for the purpose of carrying on the
trade or business of Bankers or Banking under the
name, style, and title of the "Bank of New South
Wales."
