HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint
HENRY TACY CLARKE, Esq.
to be Resident Magistrate for the District of
the Bay of Plenty. This appointment to take
effect from the 1st inst.

FRED. WHITAKER,
In the absence of Mr. Richmond.
of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and
decide Claims to Land by persons claiming
title from, through, or under the New Zealand
Company, report that the claims of the under-
mentioned persons having been duly referred
to me for investigation, I do hereby decide the
said persons to be respectively entitled to
Crown Grants of the Land set against their
name in the annexed schedule.

Rifles having been accepted by the
Government in accordance with the original
object of embodying the Force, namely, to
enable the Military to be concentrated at any
given point in New Zealand, they will now be
made temporarily available, and take the
Government House and Britomart Barrack
Guards.
