Her Majesty's Province of South
Australia, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS certain aboriginal natives of
the Colony of New Zealand are in
arms against the Queen's sovereign authority,
and it is therefore expedient that the expor-
tation of warlike store, to such Colony be
prohibited: Now therefore, I, the said Gover-
nor-in-Chief by and with the advice of the
Executive Council, do hereby prohibit the
exportation from any port or place in the
Province of South Australia, of arms, ammu-
nition, gunpowder, military and naval stores,
or any articles which may be converted to a
military or naval purpose, except in manner
and subject to the conditions hereinafter
mentioned or referred to, that is to say: From
and after the date hereof, arms, ammunition,
gunpowder, or other warlike stores shall and
may be exported only under license in writing,
first obtained for that purpose under the hand
of me, the said Governor-in-Chief, and only at
the place, in the manner, and subject to the
conditions (if any) specified in such licence:
Provided always that nothing in this Procla-
mation shall be construed to apply to the
exportation of supplies for the use of Her
Majesty's land and sea forces.

public seal of the said Pro-
vince, at Adelaide, this third
day of May, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty, and in the
twenty-third year of Her
Majesty's reign.

TENDERS will be received at this Office
until noon of Saturday, the 4th August,
from persons desirous of contracting for the
conveyance of Despatches between Auckland
and the undermentioned places, or between
any of them,

Waiuku,
Mauku,
Drury,
Papakura,
Otahuhu,
and, if possible, Mangatawhiri.

The Despatches to be conveyed by ex-
press, on horseback.

The Express to start within half an hour,
at farthest, from the receipt of the Despatches,
and to deliver them himself to the person to
whom they are addressed, or to leave them at
his usual place of residence, or at such other
place as the Government shall have pre-
viously appointed.

The Express to travel at a rate of not less
than seven miles an hour, including stop-
pages.

A list of persons who will be authorized
to send Despatches will be given to the
Contractor.

The Tenders to state at what sum, for each
trip, Despatches will be conveyed, charging
either the same sum with respect to any of
the places named, or a separate sum for each
particular place.

Province.
