I is hereby notified that Her Majesty has
been pleased to issue Her Royal Exequatur
approving of the appointment, by the Pre-
sident of the United States of America, of
GEORGE HENRY LEAVENWORTH, Esq.,
to be Consul at the Bay of Islands, and for
such other parts, within Her Majesty's Do-
minions, as shall be nearer thereto than to the
residence of any other Consul or Vice-Consul
of the United States.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint
JAMES ANDERSON,
of Mohaka, in the Province of Hawke's Bay,
Esq., one of Her Majesty's Justices of the
Peace for the Colony of New Zealand, to act
in the place of John Curling, Esq., Resident
Magistrate, during his absence from Napier,
for the purpose of attending as a Member of
the Legislative Council, during the ensuing
Session of the General Assembly.

NOTICE is hereby given that an applica-
tion will be made to the General As-
sembly of New Zealand (in the Session
appointed to be holden at Auckland on the
twenty-fifth day of July next) for an Act
to protect me in the enjoyment and exercise
of the Invention of certain Machinery for the
preparation of the Fibre of the Phormium
Tenax for manufacturing purposes; and to
prohibit any person other than myself from
copying or using the said Invention without
my license.
Dated at Wellington, in the Province of
Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of June,
1860.
