T is hereby notified that with a view to ex-
pedite the settlement of Accounts against the
General Government, the sub-Treasurers, res-
pectively have been directed to discharge all
accounts which may be presented to them duly
supported by the original or an authenticated
copy of an authority from one of the Ministers,
(if correct and unobjectionable in other respects),
although they may not have received from the
Colonial Treasurer any notification of the al-
lowance of the same.

to be Native Assessors for the above named
Districts, under the Resident Magistrate's
Courts Ordinance, Session vii. No. xvi.

NOTICE is hereby given that Tenders
will be received at this Office before 12
o'clock (noon) on Monday the 16th inst.,
from persons willing to perform the work
required in re-shingling the Native Hostelry
in Mechanics' Bay, according to a specifica-
tion which may be seen on application to the
Inspector of Public Works.
Tenders to be endorsed "Tender for re-
shingling Native Hostelry."
The right of selecting any Tender or of
declining all is reserved.

IN conformity with the 7th clause of
"Gold Fields' Act, 1858," it is hereby
notified that it is intended to grant leases for
Gold mining purposes of the Crown Lands
specified in the following applications.

HENRY JOHN TANCRED.

Applicants-Thomas Hopwood, George
Hambrook, and George Braddock.
Locality-Golden Gully.
Area-Three acres.
In a rectangular block within the limits of
W. E. Washbourne's application No. 8, the

boundary commencing at a marked peg called
Washbourne's peg, distant 80 links from the
West bank of the Golden Gully stream, thence
S. 76° 30' E., crossing the stream, 550 links,
thence N. 13° 30' E. 550 links, thence N.
76°30' W., recrossing the stream, 550 links,
and thence S. 13 30' W. 550 links to
Washbourne's peg.

No. 11.
Applicants-Felix West, John McNab,
Henry Hunt, James Boyce, and William
Norton.
Locality-Moonlight Flat.
Area-Four acres and three roods.
In a rectilinear block, the boundary com-
mencing at a point 50 links Eastward of the
junction of Fletcher's Creek with the Slate
Creek, a distance of 13.00 links; thence S.
15° W 360 links; thence N. 82°30' W.
recrossing the creek, 14.20 links; and thence
N.5W. 350 links to the point of com-
mencement.

to be Acting Sub-Treasurer for the Province
of Canterbury. This appointment bears date
the 13th March, 1860.

pleased to appoint
Mr. DUGALD MCKELLAR
to be Landing Waiter and Warehouse-keeper
at the Port of New Plymouth. This ap-
pointment bears date the 25th February,
1859.

NOTICE is hereby given, that an applica-
tion will be made to the General As-
sembly of New Zealand, in the Session ap-
pointed to be holden at Wellington, on the
Third day of May next, for an Act to protect
me in the enjoyment and sole exercise of a
certain Invention for the preparation of the
Fibre of the *Phormium Tenax* for manufac-
turing purposes; and to prohibit any person
other than myself from Copying or Using the
said Invention without my license.
