whereas it is expedient that such Courts
should be holden for the said District at the
Town of Christchurch instead of at the Town
of Lyttelton,
Now, therefore, I, the Governor, with the
advice of the Executive Council, do hereby
revoke the said Proclamation and Appointment
so far as the same is hereinbefore recited, and
do hereby proclaim and appoint that Circuit
Courts shall be holden for the said Southern
District at the Town of Christchurch, on the
first day of March, the first day of June, the
first day of September, and the first day of
December in every year, or as soon after the
said days as conveniently may be. And in
case any one of the said days so fixed as afore-
said shall happen to be a Sunday or Holiday,
then the Court appointed for such day shall be
holden on the day following.

By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of
the Most Honorable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand, and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act passed in the
Session of Parliament holden in the
fifteenth and sixteenth years of Her Majesty's
reign, intituled "An Act to grant a Repre-
sentative Constitution to the Colony of New
Zealand," it is amongst other things enacted
that no Bill which shall be reserved for the
signification of Her Majesty's pleasure thereon,
shall have any force or authority within the
Colony of New Zealand until the Governor of
the said Colony shall signify by speech or
message to the Legislative Council and House
of Representatives of the said Colony, or by
Proclamation that such Bill has been laid
before Her Majesty in Council and that Her
Majesty has been pleased to assent to the
same:
And whereas on the nineteenth day of
August one thousand eight hundred and fifty-
eight, certain Bills passed by the Legislative
Council and House of Representatives of the
said Colony, intituled respectively
"An Act for granting a Duty upon Gold,"
"An Act to make provision for the manage-
ment of Gold Fields in the Colony of New
Zealand,"
and
"An Act to enable the Provincial Councils to
pass Laws for diverting Public Roads and
Watercourses and for disposing of the land
over which the same passed,"
were presented to the Governor of the said
Colony for Her Majesty's assent, and on the
twenty-first day of the said month of August
certain other Bills passed by the said Legisla-
tive Council and House of Representatives
intituled respectively
"An Act to alter the sums granted to Her
Majesty by the Constitution Act for civil
and judicial services,"
and
"An Act to amend the Law defining and
settling the rights of holders of Land
Orders and Land Scrip,"
were presented to the said Governor for Her
Majesty's assent; and whereas all the said
Bills were reserved by the said Governor for
the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure
thereon:
Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the
said in part recited Act, do by this Procla-
mation signify and proclaim to all to whom it
may concern that the said Bills have been
severally laid before Her Majesty in Council,
and that Her Majesty has been pleased to as-
sent to the same.

WHEREAS by the "District Courts Act,
1858," it is provided that there shall
be within the Colony Courts of Record pos-
sessing Civil and Criminal Jurisdiction, to be
called District Courts, and the Governor is
empowered from time to time, by notification
in the New Zealand Gazette, to fix the times
and places within the District at which every
such Court shall be held :
Now, therefore, I, Thomas Gore Browne,
Governor of the Colony, do hereby, in pur-
suance and execution of the said power and
authority, fix that Sessions of the District
Court of TARANAKI shall be held at New
Plymouth in the Province of Taranaki on the
first Wednesday in each month.
