THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
AWATERE DISTRICT.
The eastern and southern boundary of last-
named District, from the White Bluff to the
watershed summit, between Barefell's Pass
and the Wairau Gorge, thence to Bare-
fell's Pass, thence to the upper gorge of the
Clarence, thence in a south-easterly direction
to the summit of the Gorge, thence along the
range by the summits of Mounts Freya and
Thor, thence to the junction of the first branch
of the Clarence, thence down the Clarence
to its mouth, thence following the sea coast to
the White Bluff.
AMURI DISTRICT.
The southern boundary of last-named Dis-
trict from the mouth of the Clarence. The
watershed summit between Barefell's Pass and
the Wairau Gorge, thence to the Wairau
Gorge, thence to southern extremity of Lake
Howick, thence to the watershed between the
East and West Coast, at the head of the river
Hurunui, thence down said river to its mouth,
thence along sea coast to the mouth of the
Clarence.
MOUNT GREY DISTRICT.
From the South bank of the Hurunui to
the North bank of the Ashley.
KAIAPOI DISTRICT.
From the South bank of the Ashley to the
North bank of the Waimakariri.
CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT.
From the South bank of the Waimakariri to
the North bank of the Rakaia, except Lyttel-
ton and Akaroa Districts.
ASHBURTON DISTRICT.
From the North bank of the Rakaia includ-
ing the Islands to the North bank of the Ra-
ngitata.
TIMARU DISTRICT.
From the South bank of the Rangitata to
to North bank of Watangi.
LYTTELTON DISTRICT.
From the Old Ferry over the Heathcote, at
the end of the ferry road thence along the
South bank of the Estuary of the Avon and
Heathcote and the Sea Coast (including the
Islands in Port Victoria) to a point half way
between the Eastern headland of Port Levy
and the Western headland of Pigeon Bay,
thence to the North branch of the Little River,
thence down the course of that River and Lake
Forsyth to the Sea, thence along the east edge
of Lake Ellesmere to the River Hulswell,
Cooper's Knobs, thence along the highest ridge
of the Hills to the Flagstaff on Mount Plea-
sant thence in a right line to the starting
point.
AKAROA DISTRICT.
All that portion of the Province lying to the
Eastward of Lyttelton District.
DUNEDIN DISTRICT.
Comprising Dunedin Hundred including the
Townships of Dunedin and Port Chalmers.
Bounded on the North by Blueskin Bay, and
he Ocean; on the East by the Ocean; on the
South by the Ocean, and on the North West
by the Kaikorai Stream and Abbot's Creek,
thence to Flagstaff Hill, thence to Swamp Hill,
thence to Double Hill, thence to the West end
of Blueskin Bay.
WAITANGI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the Ahuriri and
Waitangi Rivers; on the East by the Ocean;
on the South by Dunedin District as far as
Double Hill, thence by a line due West to the
Taieri River, including Runs twenty and thirty-
nine, thence by the Taieri River to a point
where it would be met by a line running due
East from the Rock and Pillar Mountain,
thence by such line to the Rock and Pillar
Mountain, thence in a right line to the junction
of the Manuherekia River with the river Clutha,
thence by the Rivers Clutha and Kawarau to
Wakatipu Lake, and on the West by the Eyre
Mountains, thence to Wanaka Lake, thence by
the Wanaka and Hawea Rivers to Hawea
Lake, thence by Hawea Lake and its East
Head to a point where it would be cut by a
line running due East and West over Hawea
Mountain, thence by such line to the West
head or branch of the River Ahuriri.
TAIERI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North and North East by
the Waitangi District, on the East and South
East by the Dunedin District and the Ocean,
on the South by the Ocean as far as a point
called Cheeseland's Mistake, thence by the
watershed to the Umbrella Mountains and the
Double Cone to the Wakatipu Lake.
INVERCARGILL DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the Rivers Awa-
rua and Makarora to Wanaka Lake, on the
East by the Waitangi and Taieri Districts, on
the South by the Ocean, and on the West by
the Ocean.
STEWART'S ISLAND DISTRICT.
Stewarts' Island, Sclander's Island,
Ruapuke Island, and the other islands
adjacent thereto.
CHATHAM ISLANDS DISTRICT.
The group known as "The Chatham
Islands."
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation
shall come into operation and take effect on
the first day of October next.
Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of
the Colony, at Government
House, at Auckland, this
sixth day of July, in
the year of Our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and
fifty nine.
