THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

hand of me, THOMAS GORE BROWNE,
the Governor of the said colony, and issued
under the Public Seal thereof, it was amongst
other things proclaimed and notified that the
Native Title had been extinguished over a cer-
tain block of land, called the Owhiwa block,
containing 847 acres, situate in the Whangarei
district, in the Province of Auckland, the
boundaries of which said block of land are men-
tioned or described in the schedule to the said
Proclamation annexed. And whereas it is ex-
pedient that the said Proclamation so far as the
same relates to the said Owhiwa block should
be revoked:

Now, therefore, I, the Governor, do hereby
annul and revoke the said in part recited Pro-
clamation, so far as the same relates to the
said block of land called or known by the name
of the Owhiwa block.

Colony of New Zealand,
at Government House, at
Auckland, this fourth day
of December, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty-seven.

election of a Superintendent of the Province
of Nelson, has been returned with a certificate
to the effect that

has been duly elected.

CONVEYANCE OF OVERLAND
MAILS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, December 2nd, 1857.

TENDERS will be received at this office
until the 13th of February next from per-
sons desirous of contracting to perform the fol-
lowing service for 12 months from the accept-
ance of the contract, viz :---

To convey mails once a week between Auck-
land and New Plymouth.

The Contractor to take the Mails from the
Post Office in Auckland at two p.m. every
Monday, and deliver them at the Post Office in
New Plymouth at one p.m. on the following
Saturday; and in like manner to take the Mails
from the Post Office in New Plymouth at two
o'clock every Monday, and deliver them at the
Post Office in Auckland at one o'clock on the
following Saturday-leaving and calling for
Mails at Waingaroa and Kawhia and waiting
half an hour at each of those Post Offices.

No Mail to be carried to exceed 28lbs. in
weight.

Further particulars may be ascertained on
application to the Postmasters at Auckland,
Kawhia, and New Plymouth.

Every Tender must specify the time at
which the subscriber will be prepared to com-
mence the service, and security will be required
for the due performance of the Contract.

Payments to the Contractor will be made
monthly by the Postmaster at Auckland, or
New Plymouth, at the option of the contractor.
