PROCLAMATION.

By his Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of
the most Honorable Order of
the Bath, Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of
the same, &c., &c.

W HEREAS it is expedient that that por-
tion of the Province of Otago which
comprises the lands known as Otakou, Kai-
karae, Taieri, Mataau, and Te Karoro, and
which piece or parcel of land is bounded on
the North by the sea coast, from a point at
Purehurehu, half a mile distant from the
Western head of the harbour of Otago to
Otupa, and thence to Poatiri; on the East by
the sea shore from Poatiri aforesaid to Tokata;
on the South and South-west by the ridge of
hills known as Taukohu to Pohuaroa; on the
West by a line running along the summit of
the Kaibiku range, then by a right line drawn
from the Northern extremity of the said line
along the summit of the Kaihiku range known
as Munga Atua, thence by a line running
North-north-easterly along the summit of the
said Munga Atua range to Waikari, thence by
a line running along the summit of the hills, to
the mountain known as Mihiwaka, and thence
by a line along the summit of the hills, till it
joins the said Northern boundary at Purehu-
rehu, should be divided into Hundreds.

Now therefore I, the Governor, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the same be divided
into eight Hundreds to be called respectively
the Hundred of Dunedin, the Hundred of East
Taieri, the Hundred of West Taieri, the Hun-
dred of Waihola, the Hundred of South Toko-
mairiro, the Hundred of North Tokomairiro,
the Hundred of East Clutha, and the Hundred
of West Clutha, the boundaries whereof re-
spectively are hereinafter particularly described.

Description of the Boundaries of the Hun-
dred of "Dunedin":-
On the North-west by a right line from the
North Trigonometrical Station Blueskin Bay,
to the Trigonometrical Station on Double Hill,
thence by a right line to the Trigonometrical
Station on Swampy Hill, thence by a right line
to the Trigonometrical Station on Flag-staff
Hill, Wakari, thence by a right line to North-
west corner of Suburban Section No. 41, Wa-
kari District, thence by the Surveyed Lands
to the South-west corner of Suburban Section
No. 155, Wakari District, thence by Abbott's
Creek and the Kaikorai River to the Ocean,
and thence on the South and East by the
ocean.

Description of the Boundaries of the Hun-
dred of "East Taieri":----
On the North by a right line from the
Trigonometrical Station on Swampy Hill, due
West to the Taieri River, West by the Taieri
River, South by the Ocean and East by the
Hundred of Dunedin.

Description of the Boundaries of the Hun-
dred of "West Taieri":
On the North and West by a line from the
the North-west corner of the Hundred of East
Taieri, at the Taieri River, to the summit of
the Maungatua Hills, thence in a South-
westerly direction in a right line towards the
mouth of the Kaihiku Stream till it meets
the South-west Boundary of the Hundred,
which Boundary is the continuation of the Road
line running North-west from the
South-west extremity of the Waihola Lake.
