the Bath, the Officer administering the Go-
vernment. and Commander-in-Chief over the
Islands of New Zealand, etc., etc., bearing
date the twenty-fifth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, hath
been directed to me, John Jermyn Symonds,
Esquire, Resident Magistrate, as Returning
Officer for the "Pensioner Settlements" and
the "Southern Division," requiring and com-
manding me to cause to be elected by and
from amongst the Electors, duly qualified
for that purpose, freely and indifferently and
in manner and form by law prescribed, one
person to serve as Superintendent for the
Province of Auckland, in place of "Robert
Henry Wynyard, Esquire, resigned." Now,
therefore, I the said John Jermyn Symonds,
Esquire, Resident Magistrate, Returning Of-
ficer for the "Pensioner Settlements" and
the "Southern Division," do hereby in pur-
suance of the said recited Writ, give notice
that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the
"Pensioner Settlements" and the "Southern
Division" will be holden at the Court
House, Queen Street, Onehunga, on the
fifteenth day of February next, at noon, for
the purpose of nominating one per-
son to serve as Superintendent for the
Province of Auckland; and in the event of a
Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or
any of them, such polling shall take place on
the twenty-first day of February next, at
such Court House aforesaid, the voting to
commence at any time after nine o'clock of
the said day, and to close at four o'clock of
the same day.

CONTRACTS FOR SERVICE OF GENE-
RAL GOVERNMENT.

TENDERS will be received at this Office,
until noon, on Thursday, the 22nd
March, 1855, for furnishing the General Go-
vernment with the undermentioned supplies, in
such quantities as may be required, during the
nine months commencing on the 1st of April
next.

FIREWOOD.

At per ton, for the usual size, and also for such
as may be required to be cut and split to a
size to suit the fire places in the Public Offices,
to be delivered at the several Public Offices.

STATIONERY.

wood," as the case may be.

TENDERS will be received at this office,
until noon, on Friday, the 23rd March,
1855, for printing the General Government
Gazette, and for such other Printing as may
be required for the service of the General Go-
vernment, during the twelve calendar months
commencing on the 1st of April next.
Security will be required for the due per-
formance of the contract.
Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed, and en-
dorsed "Tenders for Printing."
Specifications of the work may be seen,
and further particulars obtained by applica-
tion at this office.

SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Sitting of
the Supreme Court for the despatch of
Criminal Business, will be holden at the Court
House, Auckland, on Thursday, the first day
of March next, at Ten o'clock in the fore-
noon; and that a Sitting for the despatch of
Civil Business will be holden at the Court
House, on Wednesday, the seventh day of
March next, at Ten o'clock in the forenoon,
at which times and place all persons under
recognizance to appear as prosecutors, defen-
dants, or witnesses, are required to give their
attendance.
