The Colonial Treasurer gave notice that he
should move the first reading of the 'Paper
Currency Bill,' on Saturday next.
Council adjourned at half-past 4 o'clock,
until 2 o'clock on Saturday, the 14th instant.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 14th.
Present-His Excellency the Governor and
five Members; absent, Mr. Domett.
Council met pursuant to adjournment; mi-
nutes of the last meeting read and confirmed.
Mr. Brown moved the order of the day for
further consideration in committee of the Sav-
ings' Bank Bill.
Bill considered and further amended, and
committee adjourned until Tuesday, the 17th
instant.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order of
the day, for the first reading of the 'Paper
Currency Bill.'
Bill read a first time.
The Colonial Secretary moved the order of
the day, that the Council do go into committee
on the 'Slaughter-house Bill.'
Bill committed and then adjourned until
Tuesday next.
The Colonial Treasurer gave notice that he
should move the 2nd reading of the 'Paper
Currency Bill,' on Tuesday next.
Mr. Merriman gave notice that he should
move a series of amendments to the 'Slaugh-
ter house Bill,' when next considered in com-
mittee.
Council adjourned at 4 o'clock, until 2
o'clock on Tuesday, the 17th inst.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 17.
Present-His Excellency the Governor, and
five members, absent Mr. Domett.
The Council met pursuant to adjournment,
and the minutes of the last meeting were
read and confirmed.
Mr. Merriman presented a petition from
certain inhabitants and merchants in Auck-
land praying, that the 'Paper Currency Bill,
might not be allowed to pass the Council.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order of
the day for the second reading of the 'Paper
Currency Bill."
Mr. Brown moved as an amendment that
the Bill be read this day six months: after dis-
cussion, the Council divided.

til Thursday next.
The Colonial Secretary moved the order of
the day for the further consideration in committee of the
'Slaughter-house Bill.'

Tuesday next.

five Members, absent Mr. Domett.
Council met pursuant to adjournment;
minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order of
the day for the further consideration in com-
mittee of the Paper Currency Bill.
Bill considered and amended, and com-
mittee adjourned until Saturday, 21st inst.
Mr. Brown moved the order of the day
for the further consideration in committee of
the Savings' Bank Bill.
Report brought up and adopted, and bill
ordered to be read a third time on Saturday
next.
The orders of the day for the consideration
in committee of the Slaughter house Bill, and
for the first reading of the Impounding Bill,
were ordered to stand over until Saturday
next.
Council adjourned at 5 o'clock, until Satur-
day 21st inst.

Council met pursuant to adjournment; and
minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order
of the day for the further consideration in
committee of the Paper Currency Bill.
Bill considered and amended, and the com-
mittee adjourned until Tuesday, the 24th inst.
Mr. Brown moved the order of the day for
the third reading of the Savings' Bank Bill.
Bill read a third time and passed.
The orders of the day for the consideration
in Committee of the 'Slaughter-house Bill,'
and for the first reading of the 'Impounding
Bill,' were further postponed until Tuesday,
the 24th inst.
The Lieut. Governor laid on the table the
draft of a bill, entitled 'An Ordinance for
Registering Births, Deaths, and Marriages,
in the colony of New Zealand.'
The Council adjourned at 4 o'clock, until
2 o'clock on Tuesday, the 24th inst.

Council met pursuant to adjournment; and
minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
