NOTICE.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 22nd November, 1845.

HIS Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor
feels much concerned that it has become
his duty to notify, that a Despatch has been re-
ceived from the Secretary of State for the Colo-
nies, announcing that Her Majesty has been
pleased to disallow an Ordinance enacted by
the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice
and consent of the Legislative Council of that
Colony, Session III, 7 Victoria, No. 4, intituled
"An Ordinance to authorize the Governor of
"New Zealand to issue Debentures, and to
" make the same a legal tender."

The Lieutenant-Governor will lose no time in
making the best arrangements that the means at
his disposal will admit of, for obviating the dif-
ficulties and inconvenience which, in the present
state of the circulating medium of the Colony,
may result from the disallowance of the above-
mentioned Ordinance.

NOTICE.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 24th November, 1845.

HIS Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor
directs it to be notified, in reference to
the disallowance of the Ordinance authorizing
the Governor of New Zealand to issue DΓ©ben-
tures, and to make the same a legal tender, that
in all cases in which Debentures for an amount
of not less than Seventy pounds are tendered at
the Colonial Treasury, one-fourth of that amount
will be at once paid in specie, and a Debenture
for the remainder and for the interest due upon
the Debentures so tendered will be issued one
week subsequently. The Debentures thus is-
sued will bear interest at the rate of eight per
cent. per annum, and will be payable at any time
at the option of the Local Government, after
three month's notice in the Government Gazette.

NOTICE.

Auckland, 24th November, 1845.

TENDERS for the purchase of Drafts, of
not less than Β£50 each, drawn upon the
Lords of the Treasury, at thirty day's sight, by
His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor of
New Zealand, will be received at this Office till
the 4th of next month.
