SIR,As we have been led to apprehend that
an impression prevails very generally amongst
Official Functionaries and others, that the local
examination of the Public Accounts has bee
conducted on principles used bily strict and
minute, we have the honor to forward, for the
consideration of His Excelonay The Governor,
the accompanying Durers from Queries re-
ceived from the Commissioners of Audit in
England; and, as we are of opinion that if
publicity be given to them, it may tend to pure
a greater degree of accuracy and attention to
points of detail, we beg to recommend that His
Excellency the Governor will authorize their
being published in the Government Gazette.

RECEIVED FROM THE COMMISSIONERS OF AUDIT
IN LONDON.

Voucher 133, Commander of the Colonial
ship "Victoria," for victualling sundry persons,
£147 1s. ld.
Last item £1 6s. 11d.
Computes to.......... £1 4s. 9d.
Apparently overpaid .... 2s. 11d.

February, Voucher 18, Lining and finishing
the signal house at Korovdrikon, as per agreement,
£40.
The agreement should be produced. In this
instance the certificate of the satisfactory per-
formance of the work has no signature.

It is of importance that the Accounts and
Vouchers for final Audit (and especially from so
distant a Colony) should be rendered in as com-
plete a state as possible, and duly accompanied
by the Authorities and other Documents referred
to in them.

The Voucher to support these credits should
be produced.

February, Voucher 11, Colonial Surgeon,
£79 2s. 6d.
Item, Allowance for Hospital servant, from
1st October to 31st December, at 1s. 6d. per
diem, £6 16s. 6d.
Computes to ............ £6 18s. Od.
Apparently short paid ...... 1s. 6d.
Item Passage money from Sydney to Bay of
Islands, as per receipt, £23.
The receipt referred to has not been produced
and should be delivered.

July, Voucher 12, Paid for insertion of ad-
vertisements in the New Zealand Gazette (Voucher

The Voucher for this Item does not accom-
pany the accounts. To be produced.

Voucher 88, Commander of the brig "Victoria,"
allowances for necessary money, stationery, and
mess, £18 4s. 3d.

These allowances are stated to have been
authorized by the Colonial Secretary's letter of
31st May, 1841. It is requested that a certified
copy of this letter may be furnished.

CROWN GRANTS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 6th February, 1845

THE undermentioned Deeds of Grant are
now lying at this Office, and will be de-
livered to the Grantees, on application, on or
after Monday, the 10th instant.

In cases where it is impossible for the Grantee
to attend in person to receive his Deed, it will
be delivered upon the presentation of an authority
according to the subjoined form, certified by a
Magistrate, or by a Solicitor of the Supreme
Court.
