HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint

ANDREW SINCLAIR, Esquire, M. D., R. N.,
Colonial Secretary;
JAMES COATES Esquire,
Clerk of Councils, and
ROBERT APPLEYARD FITZGERALD, Esquire,
Registrar of Deeds,

to be Commissioners, pro tempore, to examine
the public accounts of the Colony.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct it to be notified, that
the Salaries of the Officers holding situations
under this Government, together with all Fixed
Contingent expenses, will, in future, be paid
Quarterly.

Bills for work actually executed, and other
expenses coming under the head of Unfixed
Contingencies, will be paid monthly.

CROWN GRANTS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 16th January, 1844.

THE undermentioned Deeds of Grant are
now lying ready for delivery to the gran-
tees, on application at this Office, and on pre-
sentation of the Colonial Treasurer's receipt, on
or after Monday, the 22d instant.

In cases where it is impossible for the grantee
to attend in person to receive his Deed, it will be
delivered to the bearer of an authority according
to the subjoined forms, certified by a Magistrate,
or by a Solicitor of the Supreme Court.

The days for delivery of the Deeds, will be
Monday and Tuesday in every week.

Form of Authority for a Deed of Grant by pur-
chase.

I hereby authorize A. B. of to receive
the Deed of Grant [for the Town, Suburban, or
Country, as the case may be,] Lot No. of
Section No. purchased by me at the
Government sale of and for which he
will produce the Colonial Treasurer's receipt.

  1. MATHEW LAURIE, twenty-three acres,
    one rood, and twenty perches. Suburban Farm
    Lot No. 61.

  2. JOHN O'BRIAN, twenty acres, three
    roods, and thirty-six perches. Suburban Farm
    Lot No. 19.

  3. WILLIAM PARKER, twenty acres, three
    roods, and twenty-two perches. Suburban Farm
    Lot No. 64.

  4. JOHN CAMPBELL, twenty-one acres, and

WITH reference to the Proclamation under
this date, notifying an intended Sale of
Town and Suburban Lots, on the 29th day of
January instant, His Excellency the Governor
has been pleased to direct the publication, for
general information, of the following Extract
of a Letter from Mr. Under Secretary Hope to
Joseph Somes, Esq., Governor of the New
Zealand Company, dated Downing Street, 12th
May, 1843.

"The Company propose :-

1st. "To purchase £50,000 worth of Land
in Auckland, and its vicinity; £10,000 worth,
at least, to be in the Town, and £25,000 worth,
at least, to be in the Country; the Company
taking the remaining £15,000 worth of Land in
Town, Suburban, or Country Lots, provided
they do not take more altogether in Suburban
than Town Lots.

2nd. "That the Town Lots be purchased yb
auction, and that they be offered at the upset
price of £100 per acre; as far as practicable,
however, such Lots to be put up together in
parcels of 10 acres each, and the whole Lands
applied for in the Town by the Company at any
one time to be sold on the same day, unless
otherwise settled at the request of their Agent,
and with the assent of the Governor.
