H IS Excellency the Officer Administering
the Government directs it to be noted
that the Commissioners for investigating Claims
To Grants of Land in this Colony, have reported
that the undermen[tioned] Claims have been with-
drawn by the claimant-
Case Nos 136, 174 (h), and 386 (g) -
Church Missionary Society, per T. Chapman,
of Tauranga, claimant- these claims being
withdrawn with No. 608, 174, and 618
already reported upon.

Government has been pleased to
confirm the reports of the Commissioners for
investigating Claims to Grants of Land in this
Colony, on the following cases, in which they
have recommended that no grants should be
allowed
Case No. 268 (d) William Derby Brind, of
the Bay of Islands, claimant.
Case No. 288 John Gore Butler, of Port
Nicholson, claimant.
Case No. 318 John Charles Blackett, claimant.
Case No. 425-J. B. Montefiore, claimant.
Case No. 431-J. Victoria Cowell, of Kawhia,
claimant.
Case No. 443-J. V. Cowell, of Kawhia, and
Edward Bee, of Syiny, claimants.

H IS Excellency the Officer administering the
Government, directs it to be notified that
the following Claims to Land in this Colony have
been referred to the Commissioners appointed
under the Ordinance of the Governor and Coun-
cil of New Zealand, 5th Victoria, Session 2, No.
14; being in addition to the Claims notified in
the Government Gazette of New South Wales,
as referred to the Commissioners appointed
under the Act of the Governor and Council of
that Colony, on the 9th November, 1840, and
on the 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th March, and
the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th April; and in the
Government Gazette of this Colony, on the 18th
August, and 13th, 20th, and 27th October, 20th
November, and 1st, 15th, and 29th December,
1841; and 5th January, 28th March, 11th,
14th, and 18th May, 22nd June, 28th Septem-
ber, 19th October, 9th November, and 7th
December, 1842; and 17th May, 1843.

Parties are reminded that, before such Claims
can be investigated, they must pay to the Com-
missioner a Fee of Five Pounds, as prescribed
by the Ordinance.

Case No. 453. JAMES HEBERLY, of Wellington,
master mariner, claimant.
Land situate at Port Nicholson, Wakanen,
Parakaki, and other places in New Zealand.
Claimed as 'Belonging to the children of the
Boundaries and contents not stated.
Case No. 454. George Young, of Wellington,
victualier, Claimant.

  1. One acre, more or less, being all that
    piece of ground, situate upon the beach on the
    western shore of the harbour of Port Nicholson,
