GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 26th November, 1842.

H IS Excellency the OFFICER administering
the Government directs it to be notified,
that by a Dispatch from the Right Honorable
the Principal Secretary of State for the Colomes,
under date 24th June, 1842, the pleasure of
Her Majesty has been conveyed to His Excel-
lency, that the Town of Auckland, on the
Waitemata, should be the Capital of the Colony
of New Zealand.

SALE OF CROWN LANDS BY PRIVATE
CONTRACT.

N conformity with the provisions of the Act
of the Imperial Parliament, 5th & 6th Vic-
torias, ch. 36, His Excellency the OFFICER
administering the Government directs it to be
notified, that the following Country Lands which
remain unsold from the Government Land Sale
of the 24th instant; are now open for Sale by
Private Contract, and for this purpose proposals
will be received at this Office from parties de-
sirous of becoming purchasers of particular Lots.
Notices will appear in succeeding Nos. of the
Gazette, of such Lands as may be disposed of
in the interval.

LIST of FARMS situated on the River Tamaki,
in the County of Eden, Parish of Waitemata,
advertised in the Government Gazette for Sale
on the 24th November, 1842, but not sold on
that day:-

Lot No. 5, containing 124a. 3r. 8p., one
hundred and twenty-four acres, three roods, and
eight perches.

Lot No. 6, containing 82a. 2r. 15p., eighty-
two acres, two roods, and fifteen perches.

Lot No. 10, containing 67a. 1r. 35p.
sixty-seven acres, one rood, and thirty-five
perches.

Lot No. 14, containing 92a. 1r. 5p:,
ninety-two acres, one rood, and five perches.

Lot No. 15, containing 102a. 1r. 30p.
one hundred and two acres, one rood, and
thirty perches.

Lot No. 19, containing 124a. 0r. 4p., one
hundred and twenty-four acres, and four
perches.

Lot No. 20, containing 91a. 2r. 24p.,
ninety-one acres, two roods, and twenty-four
perches.

Lot No. 21, containing 139a. 3r. 19p.,
one hundred and thirty-nine acres, three roods,
and nineteen perches.

Auckland, 7th December, 1842.

H IS Excellency the OFFICER administering
the Government, directs it to be notified,
that the following Claims to Land in this Colony
have been referred to the Commissioners ap-
pointed under the Ordinance of the Governor
and Council of New Zealand, 5th Vict., Sess. 2,
No. 14; being in addition to the Claims notified
in the Government Gazette of New South Wales,
as referred to the Commissioners appointed un-
der the Act of the Governor and Council of that
Colony on the 9th November, 1840, and on the
9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, March, and the 6th, 13th,
20th, and 27th, April, and in the Government
Gazette of this Colony, on the 18th August, and
13th, 20th, and 27th October, 20th November,
and 1st, 15th, and 22nd December, 1841; and
5th January, 28th March, 4th, 11th, and 18th
May, 22nd June, 28th September, 12th Octo-
ber, and 9th November, 1842.

Parties are reminded, that, before such claims
can be investigated, they must pay to the Com-
missioner a fee of Five Pounds, as prescribed by
the Ordinance.

Case No. 450,-Rev. JOHN KING of Tepuna,
Bay of Islands, on behalf of the Church
Missionary Society, claimant.

80 acres, more or less, known by the name
of Hohi, situate on the north side of the Bay of
Islands, bounded on the south side by the Bay
of Islands, and the town of Rangihona; on the
back by a creek of fresh water; and on the
west by a foot path into the interior.

Alleged to have been purchased from the
native Chief Turio Kana, in the year 1815,
by the late Rev. S. Marsden, on behalf of
the Society.

Consideration given to the natives. - Twelve
Axes

Nature of conveyance-not stated:

Case No. 450, (a)-Rev. JOHN KING, of Te-
puna, Bay of Islands, on behalf of the Church
Missionary Society, claimant.

10 acres, more or less, known by the name of
Tepuna, situate on the north side of the Bay of
Islands, about half a mile south-west of Hohi;
