GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 26th November, 1842.

HIS Excellency the OFFICER administering
the Government directs it to be notified,
that by a Dispatch from the Right Honorable
the Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies,
under date 24th June, 1842, the pleasure of
Her Majesty has been conveyed to His Excel-
lency, that the Town of Auckland, on the
Waitemata, should be the Capital of the Colony
of New Zealand.

SALE OF CROWN LANDS BY PRIVATE
CONTRACT.

Auckland, 25th November, 1842.

IN conformity with the provisions of the Act
of the Imperial Parliament, 5th & 6th Vic-
toriæ, ch. 36, His Excellency the OFFICER
administering the Government directs it to be
notified, that the following Country Lands which
remain unsold from the Government Land Sale
of the 24th instant, are now open for Sale by
Private Contract, and for this purpose proposals
will be received at this Office from parties de-
sirous ot becoming purchasers of particular Lots.
Notices will appear in succeeding Nos. of the
Gazette, of such Lands as may be disposed of
in the interval.

LIST of FARMS situated on the River Tamaki,
in the County of Eden, Parish of Waitemata,
advertised in the Government Gazette for Sale
on the 24th November, 1842, but not sold on
that day :-

Section No. 5, containing 124a. 3r. 8p., one
hundred and twenty-four acres, three roods, and
eight perches.

Section No. 6, containing 82a. 2r. 15p.,
eighty-two acres, two roods, and fifteen perches.

Section No. 10, containing 67a. 1r. 35p.,
sixty-seven acres, one rood, and thirty-five
perches.

Section No. 14, containing 92a. 1r. 5p.,
ninety-two acres, one rood, and five perches.

Section No. 15, containing 102a. 1r. 5p.,
one hundred and two acres, one rood, and
five perches.

Section No. 19, containing 124a. 0r. 4p., one
hundred and twenty-four acres, and four
perches.

Section No. 20, containing 91a. 2r. 24p.,
ninety-one acres, two roods, and twenty four
perches.

Section No. 21, containing 139a. 3r. 19p.,
one hundred and thirty-nine acres, three roods,
and nineteen perches.

the Government has been pleased to direct
that the Town situate on the river Wanganui,
disembogueing in Cook's Straits, hitherto known
by the name of "Wanganui," should be here-
after designated by the name of "PETRE."

NOTICE is hereby given that Tenders will
be received at this Office until Saturday
the 31st day of December next. from parties
who may be desirous to rent for the term of
three years, the buildings situate at Russell, Bay
of Islands, consisting of the building used as a
Government Store, a Dwelling House and
Blacksmiths Shop,

Further information may be obtained on an
application to this Office.

NOTICE is hereby given, that five Horses
recently used by the Corps of Mounted
Police, will be disposed of by private Contract.

For further information respecting them,
application nay be made to Mr. George McEl-
wain, at present in charge of the Horses.
