Waimate, claimant.
A piece of land called Papawahi, near to
Waimate; boundaries and contents not stated.
Alleged to have been purchased by claimant
from the native chief Puhi, on the 11th
November, 1839.

Case No. 448,-ELEANOR BAKER, of Hoki-
anga claimant.
60. Sixty acres, more or less, being a piece of
land called Kohe Kohe, bounded on the north by
land c'aimed by Mr Makings; on the south by
a ridge of high land, on the east by the river
Orida.
Alleged to have been purchased from certain
native chiefs not named, by Mr. John Monk,
from whom claimant derives.
Consideration given to the natives-not stated.

Case No. 449.- THOMAS M'DONNELL, Of Hoki-
anga, claimant.
A tract of land, contents not stated, knowu
by the name of "Te Horeke;" the river fron-
tage of which extends from the entrance of the
Wairere creek to a sloping point of land and
down to the water's edge, called Wai Nashem-
ginui-from the latter place a line running to a
remarkable patch of ground called Mataka,
forms the northern boundary-from the Mataka
patch, a line running by compass until the head
or source of the Wairere creek bears forms the
inland or eastern boundary-from the position
when the head or source of the Wairere creek
bears by compass, a line in the same bear-
ing, and including all the land on the east or left
bank of the Wairere, is the river Hokianga,
where the first position was taken, is the southern
boundary.
Alleged to have been purchased by claimant
from Messrs. Jones & Walker, who were
managing trustees for Messrs. Rann &
Ramsay, the original purchasers from the
natives, 20 in number, by whom the boun-
daries were defined in 1836.
Consideration given to the natives-upwards
of £400.

Case No. 449 (a). -THOMAS M'DONNELL, of
Hokianga, claimant.
A piece of land, contents not stated, adjoining
the preceding claim, known by the name of
Mataka, bounded as follows:-from a position
on the right bank of the Hokianga, where the
entrance of the Orida river bears by compass
W. N., a line running to a mark made by the
Tao Nui, and from the latter, rounding or
skirting the woods including the Tay, and on to
the west extremity of a tabooed wood, the line
then bending round the base of a sloping hill,
and then running east-south-east to the skirt of
a wood, and a full English mile through the
same, is the northern boundary; from the point
where the mile into the wood terminates, a line
running south-west by compass until the Mataka
patch bears north by compass, is the inland
boundary; the northern boundary of the prece-
ding claim, Houreke, is the southern boundary
of the present claim, and includes Paki Tarete,
Tukirange, Puka Taraice, and Motu Skokie.

native chiefs, named in the preceding
claim, by present claimants in 1836.

Case No. 449 (b). -THOMAS M'DONNELL, of
Hokianga, claimant.
A piece of land, contents not stated, known
by the name of Matou Karaka. The river
frontage extends from the Islet of Matou Karaka,
situate at the entrance of the Tora Mera Creek;
passing the Wai Eupe Creek, Poporete, and
through the Narrows, with all the intermediate
places on the left bank of the Hokianga river,
and on to the entrance of the Wai ho hui Creek.
From the entrance of the Tora Mera Creek,
taking in all the left banks of the same, and a
line running by compass, for six miles be-
yond the source or head of the Tora Mera
Creek, is the southern boundary, at the point
where the six miles terminate; a line running
by compass, until the entrance of the Wai ho hui
creek bears by compass, is the inland boundary;
a line running by compass, from the position
where the entrance of the Wai ho hui Creek
bore to the head of the latter Creek, is the
northern boundary; these bearings take in the
present claim of Maton Karaka.

Case No. 449 (C). - THOMAS M'DONNELL, of
Hokianga, claimant.
All the landed property belonging formerly to
the native chief Epee (deceased), situate at the
Waima and its branches, including the Tarake
and Pa, with the exception of one tract left by
Epee to his wife Appee. Also a tract of land
near the Oranei river, and another portion of
land situate on the left bank of the Hokianga
river, below Motou Karaka.
Alleged to have been obtained from the native
chief Epee, shot at the Bay of Islands,
all his lands haying been made over to
claimant for a heavy debt.
Nature of conveyance-not stated.

Case No. 449, (d). -THOMAS MC'DONNELL,
of Hokianga, Claimant.
A tract of land 36 square miles, situated at
Kiapara, being all the Oduwhuarra river, (a
branch of the Kiapara,) with the land on either
side of the same, including its branches, to the
extent of three miles, and joining the head or
source of the Oduwhuarra river.
Alleged to have been purchased by claimant
from certain native chiefs, not named.
