HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been
pleased to direct the following Dispatch,
received from the Right Honorable the Secretary
of State for the Colonies, acknowledging the
address from the Inhabitants of Auckland to
Her Majesty, on the birth of the Princess Royal,
to be published for General Information.

SIR,

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your
Despatch of the 3rd of August last, No. 18,
transmitting an Address from the Inhabitants
of Auckland on the Birth of a Princess Royal.

I have had the honor of laying that Address
before Her Majesty, who was pleased to receive
it very graciously.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that Her Majesty has been
graciously pleased to confirm and allow the fol-
lowing Ordinances passed by the Legislative
Council of this Colony :

By His Excellency's Command,
WILLOUGHBY SHORTLAND.

SESSION I, No. 2.

"An Ordinance to repeal within the Colony
of New Zealand a certain Act of the Governor
and Legislative Council of New South Wales,
made and passed in the 4th year of the Reign
of Her present Majesty, and adopted under an
Ordinance of the Governor and Legislative
Council of New Zealand for extending the Laws
of New South Wales to the said Colony of New
Zealand, and which said Act of the Governor
and Council of New South Wales is entituled
"An Act to empower the Governor of New
South Wales to appoint Commissioners with
certain powers to examine and report on
claims to Grants of Land in New Zealand, and
also to terminate any commission issued under
the same, and to authorize the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand to appoint Commission-
ers with certain powers to examine and report
on Claims to Grants of Land therein, and to
declare all other Titles excepting those allowed
by the Crown null and void."

SESSION I, No. 4.

"An Ordinance for instituting and regulating
Courts of General and Quarter Sessions in the
Colony of New Zealand, and to authorize the
holding of Petty Sessions within the same, and
for defining their respective powers, and deter-
mining the places at which the same shall be
holden, and for repealing within the Colony of
New Zealand certain Acts of the Governor and
Council of New South Wales, adopted and now
in force within the said Colony of New Zealand."

SESSION I, No. 5.

"An Ordinance for prohibiting the Distilla-
tion of Spirits within the Colony of New Zea-
land."
