Te Rianga, to Mr. Webster, for merchandise
therein specified, in payment for the Land.

Case No. 285.-JOHN JOHNSON, of Auckland,
claimant.
5,000, Five thousand acres, more or less, si-
tuated on the River Piako.
Alleged to have been purchased from certain
native chiefs not named, by William Webster,
of Coromandel Harbour, who sold to the
claimant.
Consideration to the natives-not stated.

Case No. 286. GEORGE CLARKE, of Waimate,
claimant.
5,000, Five thousand acres, more or less, in the
vicinity of Waimate and Hokianga.
Alleged to have been purchased from the na-
tive chiefs, Nene, Patuone, Tarau, Huaraki,
Tapinea, and others, in the years 1835 and
1836.
Consideration-in cash, horses, cattle, sheep,
and merchandise, to the amount of £1000.

NOTICE OF HEARING.

THE Commissioners appointed under the Or-
dinance of Council, 4 Victoriæ, No. 2, for
hearing and reporting on claims to Grants of
Land in New Zealand, hereby give notice that
they will investigate the undermentioned claim at
Auckland, on Thursday, the 16th day of Septem-
ber, 1841, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, when all
parties interested, are summoned to be in attend-
ance with their documents and witnesses.

Case No. 282.-WILLIAM CORNWALLIS SYMONDS,
of Auckland, on behalf of the trustees of the
Manakau New Zealand Land Company,
claimant.

A portion of land (extent not stated), on the
River Manakau, bounded on the west by the
sea, on the east by a line running N. E. from a
portion of land known by the name of Otahuhu,
until it reaches the River Waitemata, and to fol-
low that river up to its source, and thence by
a line due west to the sea, and on the front and
south by the before-named River Manakau.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Kau Wau, Kanwae, Tinana, and Ta-
maki, on the 11th January, 1836.
Consideration-a quantity of merchandise, va-
lue not stated.
Nature of conveyance-deed dated January 11,
1836.

GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that the SALE BY AUCTION,
of SUBURBAN and CULTIVATION ALLOT-
MENTS, advertised for the 12th day of July
proximo, is postponed until WEDNESDAY,
the 1st day of September next ensuing.

With a view to meet the increasing demand,
and to facilitate the arrangements of newly
arrived Emigrants, who may be desirous of obtain-
ing Land in this Colony, for the purpose of Agri-
culture, His Excellency has been pleased further
to order the Farms below described, to be on the
same day submitted to public competition by the
Colonial Treasurer.
