Nature of conveyance—Instrument in writing,
dated 21st October, 1838.

Case No. 361 (a.)—JOHN JOHNSON, of Kororarika,
claimant.

A piece of land situate at Kororarika, at the back of
the preceding claim: boundaries and extent not
stated.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Te Hutaura and Takeadeka, by present
claimant.
Consideration given to the natives—two casks
of powder, valued at £3 5s.
Nature of conveyance—an instrument in writing
dated February 2nd, 1839.

Case No. 361 (b)—JOHN JOHNSON, of Kororarika,
claimant.

A piece of land containing sixty-six feet by
fifty, bounded on the north by land claimed by
John Evans, on the south by land belonging to
the natives, on the east by the swamp.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Erongo, Edward, Eparro, Mon Taura,
Enowi, and Etopi, by Thomas Spicer, who
sold to claimant.
Consideration given to the natives—one double
barrel gun and case, and one cask powder, valued
at £21 12s 6d.
Nature of conveyance—instrument in writing,
dated 17th November, 1838.

Case No. 361 (c)—JOHN JOHNSON of Kororarika
claimant.

2, Two acres, more or less, called the Ripo,
or swamp, at the back of the beach, at Koror-
arika, boundaries not stated.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Parangi, Amene, Tareha, and Akero,
by present claimant.
Consideration given to the natives—two double
barrel guns, and two great coats, valued at £31.
Nature of conveyance—instrument in writing,
dated 10th November, 1839.

Case No. 361 (d)—JOHN JOHNSON of Kororarika,
claimant in part.

A piece of land situate at the Bay of Wanga-
mumu, twenty-eight miles east of Kororarika,
seven miles from Cape Brett, containing all the
Bay of Wangamumu, commencing at the north at
a water-run on a small sandy beach, extending
from the said water-run gully to the top of the
mountains, around its ridge in the shape of a
horse shoe, running round to a narrow neck which
divides the suthernmost headland from the main,
including the said headland.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Amoka, A Reeva and Worere, by Hen-
ry Henderson and claimant.
Consideration given to the natives—money
and goods to the amount of £84,
Nature of conveyance—instrument in writing,
dated 8th September, 1839.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the inten-
tion of the Directors of the New Zealand
Banking Company, to apply during the present
Session of the Legislative Council, for an Ordi-
nance to imply Legal Proceedings by and
against the said Company; and that the follow-
ing is an Analysis of the Bill presented :—

  1. Preamble.
  2. Legal proceedings by the Company, to be
    in the name of the Manager.
  3. Against the Company, in the name of the
    Manager.
  4. Not to abate by death of Manager.
  5. Legal Process to be served on Manager.
  6. Manager not to be personally Liable.
  7. Memorial of names of Manager and Directors
    to be recorded.
  8. To be signed by Manager.
  9. No proceedings to be commenced until the
    Memorial be recorded.
  10. Members of Company may give evidence.
  11. Execution to be issued against any Member
    of Company.
  12. Who shall have his remedy.
  13. List of Members to be recorded.
  14. To be open for inspection.
  15. Penalty.
  16. False Oath.
  17. Names on List to be taken as Members of
    Company.
  18. Change in Members of Company.
  19. Securities taken in name of Manager.
  20. Proceedings not to abate.
  21. Legal Estate &c., to rest in New Manager.
  22. Plaintiff not to be non-suited for want of
    proof of Record of Memorial.
  23. Company not to be incorporated by this
    Ordinance.
  24. Rights of the Crown, &c., not to be affected.
  25. Ordinance to be considered a public Ordi-
    nance.
  26. But not to come into operation till it receives
    Royal approbation.
