PROCLAMATION.

By His EXCELLENCY WILLIAM HOBSON,
Esquinz, Captain in Her Ma-
jesty's Royal Navy, and Go-
vernor and Commander in
Chief in and over Her Majes-
ty's Colony of New Zealand,
and its Dependencies, &c. &c.
&c.

HEREAS, by a certain Ordinance of the
Governor, with the Advice and Consent of
the Legislative Council of the said Colony, passed in
the 4th and 5th years of the Reign of Her present
Majesty, Queen VICTORIA, intituled, "An Ordi-
"nance for instituting and regulating Courts of
"General and Quarter Sessions, in the Colony of
"New Zealand, and to authorize the holding of
"Petty Sessions within the same, and for defi-
"ning their respective Powers, and determining
"the places at which the same shall be holden,
"and for repealing within the Colony of New
"Zealand, certain Acts of the Governor and
"Council of New South Wales, adopted and now
"in force within the said Colony of New Zea-
"land," it is amongst other things enacted and
ordained, that Courts of General and Quarter
Sessions for the Colony of New Zealand, should be
holden in and for the said Colony, at Auckland,
Port Nicholson, Russell, and such other places,
within the said Colony, and at such times respeั-
tively, as the Governor for the time being, by any
Proclamation to be duly issued for that purpose,
should from time to time appoint.

Now I, the said Governor, in pursuance of the
power and authority vested in by the said
in part recited Ordinance, do hereby direct and
appoint that the said Courts of General Quarter
Sessions shall be holden, during the present and

in each future year, at the several and respecั-
tive places, and on the days and times hereinafter
respectively mentioned, that is to say,

At Auckland, on the first Tuesday in the
Month of October in the present, and on the first
Tuesday in the respective Months of January,
April, July, and October in each future year.

At Port Nicholson, on the first Tuesday in the
Month of October in the present, and on the first
Tuesday in the respective Months of January,
April, July, and October in each future year.

At Russell, on the last Tuesday in the Month
of October in the present, and on on the last Tuesday
in the respective Months of January, April, July,
and October, in each future year.

Given under my Hand and Seal, at Go-
vernment House, Auckland, this tenth
day of July, in the Year of our Lord
One thousand eight hundred and forty-
one,
