PROCLAMATION.
By His EXCELLENCY WILLIAM HOBSON,
ESQUIRE, Captain in Her Ma-
jesty's Royal Navy, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and
over Her Majesty's Colony of
New Zealand, and its Dependen-
cies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, &c. &c. &c.
WHEREAS, by a certain Act of Ordinance
of the Governor and Legislative Council
of New South Wales, passed in the second year
of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, iuti-
tuled, "An Act for regulating the Police in the
"towns of Paramatta, Windsor, Maitland, Bat-
hurst, and other towns respectively, and for the
"removing and preventing nuisances and ob-
"structions, and for the better alignment of
"streets therein," it was, amongst other things
enacted, that whenever the Governor, or acting
Governor for the time being, shall deem it expe-
dient to extend the same to any other town in
the said Colony, it shall and may be lawful for
the said Governor, or acting Governor for the
time being, to declare the same by Proclamation.
And whereas, by a certain Ordinance of the
Governor and Legislative Council of New Zea-
land, passed in the fourth year of the reign of
Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled, "An Or-
"dinance to declare that the laws of New South
"Wales, so far as they can be made applicable,
"shall extend to and be in force in her Majesty's
"Colony of New Zealand, from and subsequent
"to the date of her Majesty's Royal Charter and
"Letters Patent, erecting into a separate Colony
"the Islands of New Zealand, &c. &c.;" it was
amongst other things enacted, that so much of
all and every of the laws, acts, or ordinances
heretofore made by the Governor and Legislative
Council of New South Wales, and now in force
therein, as have already been and can hereafter
during the continuance of this Ordinance, be ap-
plied within the said Colony of New Zealand.
shall be and the same are hereby adopted and
declared, and directed to be extended to and ap-
plied in the administration of justice in the said
Colony of New Zealand, in the like manner as all
the other Law of England, and as if the same had
been repealed and re-enacted in this Ordinance.
Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pursuance
of the power and authority so vested in me by
the said recited acts, do hereby proclaim and de-
clare that the provisions of the first recited act is
extended to the Town of Wellington, in the Dis-
trict of Port Nicholson.
Given under my Hand and Seal, at Wel-
lington, this ninth day of September,
in the year of our Lord One thousand
eight hundred and forty-one.

HIS EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR, directs it to
be notified, that the days for the reception
of Visitors on business at Government House,
will, for the future, be Tuesday and Friday in each
week, between the hours of Eleven and Three.
But the GOVERNOR will be ready at all times to
transact business of a pressing or urgent nature,
on application, to be made through His Excel-
lency's Private Secretary.
