PROCLAMATION.

By His EXCELLENCY WILLIAM HOBSON,
ESQUIRE, Captain in Her Ma-
jesty's Royal Navy, and Governor
and Commander-in-Chief and
over Her Majesty's Colony of
New Zealand, and its Dependen-
cies, and Vice Admiral of the
same, &c. &c. &c.

WHEREAS by Letters Patent, under the
Great Seal of the High Court of Admi-
ralty of England, bearing date the thirteenth day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and forty-
one, her Majesty has been graciously pleased to
ordain, constitute, and depute me, William
Hobson, Esquire, Captain in her Majesty's Royal
Navy, her Majesty's Vice Admiral, Commissary,
and Deputy in the Office of Vice Admiralty in
her Colony of New Zealand and the Territories
thereon depending.

Now I, the Governor and Commander-in-Chief
of the Colony of New Zealand aforesaid, do pro-
claim and declare this her Majesty's pleasure,
and that I have this day assumed the powers and
authority vested in me thereby.

Given under my Hand and Seal, this
twenty-seventh day of August, in the
year of our Lord One thousand eight
hundred and forty-one.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to be
notified that Her Majesty has been pleased
to appoint

WILLIAM MARTIN, ESQ.,
to be Chief Justice of the Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to be
notified that Her Majesty has been pleased
to appoint

WILLIAM SWAINSON, ESQ.,
to be Attorney-General of the Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been
pleased to appoint

FRANCIS FISHER, Esq.,
to be Chairman of the Court of Quarter Sessions,
for Auckland and Russell, under the Ordinance
of the Governor and Council of New Zealand, 4
and 5 Victoria, No. 4.
