THE GAZETTE.
GOVERNMENT NOTICE.
Colonial Secretary's Office, July 1, 1840.
THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR desires it to be notified, that the Lands of Mangonui have been purchased for Her Majesty the Queen, and he therefore cautions the Public against building, cutting timber, or trespassing thereon.
Those persons who may have established themselves on those lands either by building, or enclosing grounds for cultivation, will be permitted to hold such tenements or lands undisturbed until the Commission to be hereafter appointed shall decide upon the respective parties.
All who desire the privilege of cutting down timber on the said Lands, may obtain permission for a limited period from the LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR on payment of a small Fee by way of acknowledgment.
Given at Mangonui, this 24th day of June, 1840.

of the cutter AQUILLA, as she now lies at Paroa Island, together with the trade, stores, anchors, cables, &c., &c.

CAUTION.
THE UNDERSIGNED hereby cautions the Public against trespassing, cutting or purchasing wood upon the following properties, viz.:—
A valley at the back of the Victoria Hotel.
ALSO,
A portion of Land at the Waikati, running from the Company’s land to the land of Messrs. Green and Black.
ALSO,
A large portion of land at Urati or Orougo.
ALSO,
A portion of land running from Ono Roa, about half a-mile on the coast to Pawe.
ALSO,
A large portion of land situated between Wangarun and Mangonui, leaving about ten miles frontage, and running back about five miles, bounded as follows:—
Toopo, Matakunihi, Palu Kowafa, Hooria, Koroowiti, Waka Puka, Moigoglin liu, Opoo, Mauma Ringu Ringa, Pooka Hohia, Watu Ka Rupa, Ti ti Wanui, Tara ka, Wy rare, Oia ewi, Wy hi hi, Rangi hi Motto, Teiare, Huonato, Tapon rovoa, Tiki mi rara, Mongu kahia.
Any person found cutting wood or otherwise trespassing, will be prosecuted according to Law.
