HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR is pleased to direct it to be notified, that William Cornwallis Symonds, Esq., J.P., has been appointed to sanction the discharge of Seamen in the District of Wai-te-mata, on the Thames, as required by the 41st Section of the Act of the Governor and Council of New South Wales, 6th Vict. 6th Wm. IV., chap. 19, intituled, "An Act to amend and consolidate the Laws relating to the Merchant Service of the United Kingdom, and for forming and maintaining a Register of all men engaged in that service, and all persons connected are hereby required to apply to that Officer accordingly."

The New Zealand Banking Company will commence Business on the 4th instant, and interest will be allowed, and charged at the following rates until further Notice.
INTEREST ALLOWED
On Current Accounts on the daily balance 3 per cent. per annum.
On Deposit Receipts payable at ten days notice 5 per cent. per annum.
INTEREST CHARGED
Bills not having more than 90 days to run, 10 per cent. per annum.
Discount Days—Wednesday at 12 o’clock
BILLS at ten day’s Sight are granted on the Commercial Banking Company in Sydney at 1 per Cent Premium.

£50 REWARD
IS offered by MR. T. SPICER, and £20 additional by MR. B. E. TURNER, for the apprehension of the person or persons who Robbed the Stores of Messrs. SPICER & WEAVELL, on the night of the 3rd instant. The undermentioned formed part of the Property stolen. Should any of them be offered, it is requested the parties offering them may be detained.
