PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY,
K.C.B., Governor-in-Chief in
and over the Islands of New
Zealand, and Governor of the
Provinces of New Ulster and
New Munster, & Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS, by an Ordinance enacted by
the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zea-
land, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council, Session 9, No. 2, in-
tituled "An Ordinance for regulating the
Conveyance and Postage of Letters," it is en-
acted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-
in-Chief from time to time, by Proclamation
to be published in the Government Gazette, to
abolish, alter, and fix any Colonial Postage
payable for the transmission by Post of letters
and other papers within the said colony, and to
alter, repeal or abolish any Colonial Postage
so altered or fixed as aforesaid, and to make
or establish any new or other postage in lieu
thereof.
And whereas, in the table of Rates of Post-
age attached to the Post Office Regulations
at present in force within the colony is de-
clared,—
That in addition, all the above letters and news-
papers, if conveyed by Post from the Port of
arrival to any other Port of the colony, are lia-
ble to an additional inland Postage of four-
pence on letters, and one penny on news-
papers.
And whereas it is expedient that the fore-
going Regulation be rescinded:
Now, therefore, I, the said Governor-in-Chief,
do hereby proclaim and declare, that the said
Regulation is rescinded from the aforesaid table
of Rates.
And that, in lieu thereof, there shall be sub-
stituted the following:—
In addition, all letters, if conveyed by
Post from the port of arrival to any other port
of the Colony, are liable to an additional Post-
age of one penny.
And I declare that the rates on such letters
as aforesaid shall be charged and are payable
accordingly.
This Proclamation to take effect from and
after the day on which it may be received at
the several Post Offices in the colony of New
Zealand.

Munster, this Eighteenth day of
January, in the year of our
Lord, one thousand eight hundred
and forty-nine.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by
the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zea-
land, and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council, Session 8, No. 11, in-
tituled "An Ordinance to secure the payment
of certain Government Debentures out of the
General Revenue of the Colony," it is enacted
that "it shall be lawful for the Governor from
time to time, out of the surplus Revenue of the
said Colony, or out of any other funds at his
disposal in that behalf, to pay off and discharge
the said Debentures."
And whereas it is de-
sirable that all unfunded Debentures for sums of
One Pound and Five Pounds shall be paid, to-
gether with the interest due thereon, in the
terms of the said Ordinance.
Now, therefore I, the Governor-in-Chief,
do hereby proclaim that all such Debentures
of One Pound and Five Pounds each, at pre-
sent outstanding within the said Colony of New
Zealand, will, with the interest thereon ac-
cruing, for any complete year or years, be paid
off on being presented for that purpose at the
respective Treasuries or Sub-Treasuries through-
out the Colony aforesaid, upon any day after
the 1st day of March next; and that such De-
bentures will not bear interest from and after
the 30th day of June, 1849.
This Proclamation shall take effect from
and after the 1st day of March next.

this twentieth day of January,
in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred
and forty-nine.

PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Lieutenant the Honourable
R. H. WYNDHAM, Administrator of the
government of the said Province.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled, "An Act to make
provision for defining certain Boundaries, and
for dividing into Counties the Northern Island,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted, that for the
purposes of the said Act, the Governor is to de-
clare, by Proclamation, the several divisions
which shall constitute the Counties.
Now, therefore, I, the said Governor, do
hereby proclaim and declare that for the pur-
pose of such regulations as aforesaid, the said
lots be deemed and taken to be within the
Hundred of Howick.
Given under my hand, and is-
sued under the Public Seal of
the Province of New Ulster, at
Government House at Auck-
land, in the said Province, the 11th
day of January, in the year of our
Lord, one thousand eight hundred
and forty-eight.
