sible, a fine be imposed on those parties who may continue to run cattle without improving or cultivating the land for which they have obtained a license.

The Wardens would also suggest that a heavy fine be imposed upon parties who may run at large male entire cattle above one year old.

The Wardens would also suggest that all cattle above six months old be branded, under penalty of a fine, and that such brands be registered at such place as the Government may appoint. The Wardens are aware, that in one of the sister colonies a law exists which compels all cattle intended for slaughter to undergo an inspection by a person appointed for that purpose, who takes a memorandum of the brands, his salary being paid by a small tax on the slaughtered cattle. The Wardens are unanimous in opinion that, if a similar law existed in this colony, compelling cattle intended for slaughter to be put under proper inspection, it would be of material benefit to the settlers and the public generally.
