RATIONS TO ROAD PARTIES.
Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, Sept. 8th, 1848.
TENDERS will be received at this Office,
until noon, on Wednesday, the 20th September, for the supply of rations on the undermentioned scale, for Natives employed on
the public Roads, for the period commencing on 11th October, 1848, and ending 31st March, 1849.
The Daily ration for each man to consist of—
- 1lb Fresh Pork
- 1 ½lb Flour or Bread, and
- 12oz. Rice, or 2lb Potatoes.
The Flour or Bread to be of the best quality.
The Rations must be delivered by the Contractor at such places as may be indicated by the Superintendent of Roads, before the hour of noon, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in each week.
The number of Natives employed will vary from three to four hundred; and any additional information which may be required respecting terms of the Contract, &c., together with forms of Tender, may be obtained on application to the Superintendent of Roads, at the Office of the Surveyor General.
Security will be required for the due performance of the Contract, and the Tenders must be accompanied by a notification of consent of the parties proposed as Sureties.
The Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed and endorsed, “Tenders for Rationing Road Parties.”

MAIZE AND BRAN.
Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 7th September, 1848.
TENDERS will be received at this Office,
until noon on Wednesday, the 27th inst.,
for the supply of Maize and Bran in such quantities as may be required for the public service, during the twelve months ending 30th September, 1849.
The average Quarterly consumption is as follows:—
At Auckland.
- Maize .......... 22,000 lbs.
- Bran .......... 7,500 lbs.
At Howick.
- Maize .......... 3,500 lbs.
- Bran .......... 1,000 lbs.
The tenders are to state the price per bushel at which the Maize and Bran will be delivered at the Government Stables in Mechanics’ Bay, or at Howick, as may be required.
Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed and endorsed “Tender for Maize and Bran,” (or as the case may be), and to be accompanied by a notification of the consent of the parties proposed as sureties, as well as by samples of the articles tendered for.
