And whereas, by the said "Supreme Court Ordinance," the Governor is empowered to assign to each of the Districts into which the Colony may be divided, a Judge or Judges, who shall have within the same all the powers and jurisdiction thereby given to the Supreme Court:

Now therefore, I, the Governor, in pursuance of such authority, Do hereby Proclaim and declare that I have assigned to the Southern District as originally defined by the aforesaid Proclamations of the eighteenth of January 1844, and the seventh of November 1845, SIDNEY STEPHENS, Esquire, a Judge of the Supreme Court.

This Proclamation shall take effect from and after the day of the date hereof.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House, at Wellington, in the Islands aforesaid, this eleventh day of March, in the year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

HIS EXCELLENCY the Governor directs it to be notified, that the Footpaths in the Town of Lyttelton, hereinafter described, having been well and sufficiently made and completed for the use and accommodation of foot passengers, according to the provisions of the Footpath Ordinance, Session 8, No. 12, are hereby declared to be Public Footpaths, and from and after the date hereof shall be deemed and taken accordingly to be Public Footpaths within the meaning of the said Ordinance.

The said Footpaths run along both sides of Oxford-street from Norwich Quay to London-street, and on the Northern side of Norwich Quay, in the Town of Lyttelton.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint MR. JOHN PARSONS to be Tide Surveyor for the Port of Lyttelton. The appointment to bear date the 12th instant.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until the 24th Instant, from persons desirous of contracting for reclaiming a part of Lambton Harbor.

Specifications may be seen on application to MR. ROBERTS, at the Royal Engineer’s Office, from whom any further information relating to the proposed work may be obtained.

Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed, and endorsed, "Tenders for reclaiming part of Lambton Harbor."

Resident Magistrate’s Court,
Wellington, March 10th, 1852.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the General Annual Licensing Meeting for the District of Port Nicholson, will be held at this Court on Tuesday, the 20th day of April next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of considering applications for Licenses for the sale of fermented and spirituous liquors: in compliance with the provisions of the Licensing Ordinance, 5 Victoria, Session 2, No. 12.

All applications must be lodged with the Clerk of the Bench on, or before, Tuesday the sixth day of April next.
