HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR NOR-IN-CHIEF desires it to be notified that instructions having been received which direct him to adopt such measures as may be necessary in consequence of the cessation of the functions of the New Zealand Company, with respect to the management of Lands in this Colony, and in consequence of the assumption by the Commissioners of Land and Emigration of the duties hitherto performed by the Company, His Excellency has been pleased to make the following appointments:—
The Honorable
CONSTANTINE AUGUSTUS DILLON,
to be Commissioner of Crown Lands for the District of Nelson, and,
FRANCIS DILLON BELL, ESQUIRE,
to be Commissioner of Crown Lands for the District of Wellington.
Both appointments to take effect from the 1st April next.

to be Registrar of the Supreme Court, Registrar of Deeds, and Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages at Otago.

SEALED Tenders, in duplicate, will be received at this Office on or before the 25th instant, from persons willing to contract for the repairs of portions of the North Western and Wairarapa Roads, for a period of 18 months, viz.—from 1st April 1851, to 30th September, 1852. Separate tenders must be sent in for each portion of the road described below.
The Specifications may be seen and further information obtained at the Survey Office.
North Western Road.
1st Portion.—From Kaiwarra Bridge to Brown's Inn at Jackson's Ferry.
2nd Portion.—From Brown's Inn to the Beach at Paikakariki.
Wairarapa Road.
1st Portion.—From Major Baker's gate at Wellington to the Hutt Bridge.
2nd Portion.—From the Hutt Bridge to No. 1 line in the Upper Hutt.
3rd Portion.—For Six Months only — From No. 1 line to the end of the Cart Road beyond the Pakuratahi.
4th Portion.—For Six Months only — The New Bridle Path now constructing, from the end of the Cart Road to Burling's House.
The contract for the last two portions to endure for Six Months only—or up to 30th September, 1851—as they are at present in an unfinished state.

TENDERS will be received at this Office on or before the 20th inst., for certain alterations and additions to be made at the Government Offices, Lambton Quay.
Plans and Specifications may be seen, and further particulars obtained by applying to Mr. Roberts, Royal Engineer Office, Wellington.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Special Meeting of the Justices of the Peace for this District, will be held at this Court, on Thursday the 20th day of March next, at 12 o'clock, for the purpose of forming a Militia List for the district of Port Nicholson for the year 1851-52.
