PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey,
K. C. B., Governor-in-Chief in and
over the Islands of New Zealand,
and Governor of the Provinces of New
Ulster and New Munster, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by an Ordinance passed by
the Lieutenant-Governor of the Pro-
vince of New Munster, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
Session I., No. 10, intituled “An Ordinance
to authorize the Levying and Collection of
Tolls on Roads and Rates on Land in the
Province of New Munster,” it is enacted
that, “whenever a majority of the Justices
of the Peace residing within the district shall
memorialize His Excellency the Lieutentant
Governor, stating their desire that the said
Ordinance, or any part thereof, should be
brought into operation within such district,
or any portion thereof, the Lieutenant-Go-
vernor, by and with the consent of the Ex-
ecutive Council, may proclaim the district,
or portion thereof so indicated by the said
Justices to be within the operation of the
said Ordinance, or such part thereof, accord-
ingly.”

And whereas, a majority of the Justices
of the district of Wellington have memo-
rialized His Excellency the Lieutenant-
Governor to the effect, that the 14th clause
of the aforesaid Ordinance should be
brought into operation within such portions of the
said district as are hereinafter described.

Now therefore, I, the Governor of the
Province of New Munster, aforesaid, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the 14th
clause of the Ordinance aforesaid, shall be
brought into operation within the district of
Wellington aforesaid, as far as regards that
part of the Wairarapa road above the Silver
Stream, and the branch road commencing
at that part of the Wairarapa Road near the
Hutt bridge, and extending to the Waiwetu
River, passing along the public road called
“White’s Line,” and commonly known as
the Waiwetu road, from and after the date
hereof.

Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of the Pro-
vince of New Munster, in the Is-
lands of New Zealand, at Govern-
ment House, at Wellington, this
fifth day of March, in the year of
our Lord One Thousand Eight
Hundred and Fifty One.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the undermentioned Ordi-
nance enacted by the Governor-in-
Chief of New Zealand, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
was passed in the thirteenth year of the
reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria,
viz. —

“An Ordinance to appropriate the Reve-
nue of the Province of New Ulster for the
year 1849-50,” Session 10, No. 2, which
Ordinance having been laid before the
Queen by the Right Honorable Earl Grey,
one of Her Majesty’s Principal Secretaries
of State, Her Majesty has been pleased to
confirm and allow the same.

Now therefore, I, the Governor-in-Chief
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
make known to all whom it may concern,
that Her Majesty has been graciously plea-
sed to confirm and allow the before-mentio-
ned Ordinance.

Given under my hand and issued
under the Public Seal of the Isla-
nds of New Zealand, at Govern-
ment House at Wellington, in the
Province of New Munster in the
Islands aforesaid, this seventh
day of March, One thousand eight
hundred and fifty one.

Wellington, 6th March, 1851.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT-GO-
VERNOR has been pleased to appoint
Thomas Cass, Esquire,
to lay informations under the 1st Clause of
the “Native Land Purchase Ordinance,”
No. 19, of Session 7, against persons acting
contrary to the provisions of the said Ordi-
nance, within the limits of Banks’ Peninsula,
and the country lying between it and the
West Coast, so far as the same is included
in the purchases effected by Messrs. Kemp
and Mantell.
