to be a Commissioner of Crown Lands under the Crown Lands Ordinance, Session X, No. 1, and Crown Lands Amendment and Extension Ordinance, Session XI, No. 10, for the Southern District of the Province of New Munster, which comprises all those parts of the New Zealand Islands which lie to the southward of the Wai-tangi River on the East Coast, and a line from its source to Cascade Point on the West Coast; excepting that part known as the "Otago Association's Block."

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

LIGHT AT THE MOUTH OF NELSON HARBOUR.

THE NELSON HARBOUR LIGHT will be known to Mariners as a fixed Red Light. The light will be visible in a south direction from N.N.W. round to N.N.E.; the lantern is elevated 160 feet above the level of the sea, but the light being red will not be seen at a greater distance than about eight miles, and at a lesser distance, according to the state of the atmosphere.

Vessels running down the Bay should bring the light to bear S.S.E., with the lead going until they get within 7 fathoms, when they should anchor, and wait for a Pilot. The light is in south lat. 41deg., 15min., 30sec., and E. long. 173deg., 16min., 5sec.
