or Sub Collector of Customs is authorized to issue certain quantities of Tobacco free of duty for Sheepwashing upon the application of any Sheepowner, or his known Agent, having first taken a declaration that he has a certain number of Sheep infected with the Scab; and for the purpose of washing them he requires lbs. of Tobacco. The Collector having ascertained from the Commissioner of Crown Lands that the declaration is correct may issue a warrant to the Locker to deliver the Tobacco, by having it thoroughly saturated with Spirits of Tar or Turpentine, and then deliver it from the Warehouse free of Duty.

FORM OF DECLARATION.

I, A.B., do solemnly and sincerely declare that I have (or C.D. has) Sheep at , which require washing for the Scab, and for which purpose I require (or he requires) lbs. of Tobacco; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true.

Allow the above quantity to be damaged by being saturated with Spirits of Tar or Turpentine for twelve hours, and then deliver to

IMPORTATION AND SALE OF GUNPOWDER.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR in CHIEF directs it to be notified for general information that the following Regulations have been established with regard to the landing, sale, or removal of Arms, Gunpowder, or other Warlike Stores:

No person is permitted to import, land, sell, or remove Arms, Gunpowder, Shot, or Warlike Stores, without a license previously obtained under the hand of the Colonial Secretary of the Province; or some other person duly authorised:

Any person desiring to purchase Arms, Gunpowder, or Shot, for sporting purposes must previously apply to the Resident Magistrate of the District, who will authorize, if he think fit, the purchase from the holder of a license above referred to, of such a quantity as may be stated in a certificate to be granted by such Resident Magistrate.

A Register of the persons obtaining such certificates, and the quantities of Gunpowder, &c., they may be authorized to purchase, will be kept by the Resident Magistrate in each district.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR directs it to be notified for the information of the Heads of Departments that accounts for Supplies or other Contingencies are for the future to be sent in to the office of the Colonial Treasurer on the 2nd of the month, succeeding that for which they may fall due, instead of to the Auditor General's Office as heretofore.

It is further notified, for general information, that the day for the payment of Contingencies has been altered from the 6th to the 12th of each month.
