PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Edward John Eyre, Esquire, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS by certain Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom, bearing date the 23rd day of December, 1846, full power and authority is granted to the respective Governors of the Provinces of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the respective Executive Councils thereof, to issue Proclamations appointing the limits of Counties, Hundreds, Towns, &c., within the said Provinces: And it is further declared that the Lieutenant-Governor for the time being of each of the said Provinces shall exercise all powers and privileges thereby and otherwise howsoever vested in the Governor for the time being of any such Province:
Now therefore, I, the Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Munster aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority vested in me by the said Letters Patent, do hereby proclaim and declare that for the purposes of the Cattle Trespass Ordinance, No. 17 of Session 7, the boundaries of the township of Akaroa in the Middle Island of New Zealand, shall be hereafter known as follows:
Bounded on the North by the northern extremities of Hippolite Gendrot’s, Pierre Benoit’s, and James Dulac’s land, and from thence in a direct line to the north-eastern extremity of Pierre Gendrot’s land, on the South by the southern extremity of C. B. Robinson’s paddock fence, and also by the southern extremities of Malcolm M’Kennon’s and James Reid’s present cultivations, on the East by an almost direct line from the north-eastern point of Pierre Gendrot’s land, taking in Mr. Watson’s garden and Francois Lelievre and Francois Melanche’s land, and from thence in a direct line to the south-eastern extremity of James Reid’s cultivations, and on the West by the Harbor and the German Bay Road.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of April, in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-one.
