PROCLAMATION
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE Grey, K.C.B., Governor-in-Chief
I. s. and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the
Provinces of New Munster, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c.,
&c., &c.
WHEREAS, by an Ordinance enacted
by the Lieutenant-Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
Session 8, No. 16, intituled “An Ordinance to authorize the establishment of
a Colonial Bank of Issue by the Government of New Zealand, to make and issue
a Paper Currency, and to prohibit the
making and issuing of Paper Money by
private individuals,” it is amongst other
things enacted, that the business of and
relating to the issue of the Notes of the
said Bank shall be conducted and carried
on in offices to be established for that
purpose at Auckland and Wellington,
and at such other places as the Governor
shall direct, and that every such office
shall be open for business on such days
and at such hours as the Governor for
the time being shall in that behalf by
Proclamation appoint: and whereas,
Offices of the Colonial Bank of Issue
have been established at Auckland and
Wellington. Now, I, the Governor do
hereby proclaim and appoint that the
said offices will be opened on the third
day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and fifty, and that such offices will open
for business on all days but Saturday and
Sunday, from ten o’clock until three
o’clock, and on Saturday from ten o’clock
until two o’clock.

Islands of New Zealand, at Government House at Auckland,
in the Province of New Ulster,
on this 12th day of April, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty.

of the Ordinance entitled “The Paper
Currency Ordinance,” to ascertain and
certify the average number of Notes of
the Union Bank of Australia, which were
in circulation during the two years
preceding the 1st day of July, 1847, so
far as relates to the Branch of the said
Bank in the Province of New Munster,
viz.:
Alfred Domett, Esquire, Colonial
Secretary.
Hon. H. Petrie, Colonial Treasurer.
Godfrey John Thomas, Esquire,
Auditor-General of the Province
of New Munster.
