PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency, Edward John
Eyre, Esquire, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster, and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, intituled “An Ordinance to increase the efficiency of the Constabulary Force,” Session I., No. 9, it is declared that it shall be lawful for the Lieutenant Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, to specify any limits of Towns within which any provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance shall be enforced, upon a requisition to that effect from a majority of the Magistrates of the District in which such Town is situate.

And Whereas a majority of the Magistrates of the District of Whanganui have made a request that the 10th clause of the said Ordinance should be enforced within the limits of the Town of Petre.

Now Therefore I, the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster, with the advice of the Executive Council thereof, do hereby declare that the said clause of the aforesaid Ordinance shall from and after the date hereof, be enforced within the original limits of the Town of Petre, as the same are laid down in the certified copy of the New Zealand Company’s plan of the said Town, filed in the Office of the Colonial Secretary of New Munster.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of November, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty.

And Whereas by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster, and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, intituled “An Ordinance to provide for the making, maintaining, and regulating of Footpaths,” Session 8, No. 12, is hereby declared to be a Public Footpath, and from and after the date hereof, shall be deemed and taken accordingly to be a Public Footpath within the meaning of the said Ordinance:—

The said Footpath runs along Manners Street, Te Aro, from the corner of Cuba Street, to Farish Street, and on the opposite side from Lombard Street to the termination of Messrs. Bethune and Hunter’s frontage on Manners Street aforesaid, in a Southerly direction.

His EXCELLENCY the Lieutenant-Governor directs it to be notified that the Town and Town Belt of Wellington, as laid down in the Plans of the Town attached to the Crown Grant, and entered of record in the Office of the Colonial Secretary, are hereby declared to be the Districts of the Inspector of Slaughter Houses for Wellington.
