HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct the re-publication of the following Proclamation from the Auckland Government Gazette, for general information.

PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency George Grey, Esquire, Governor-in-Chief, in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS the undermentioned Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, was passed in the tenth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria:
viz.
No. 10. "An Ordinance for establishing Standard Weights and Measures, and for the prevention of the use of such as are false and deficient." (26th October, 1846.)
Which Ordinance having been by the Right Honorable Earl Grey, one of Her Majesty’s Principal Secretaries of State, laid before the Queen, Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the same.
Now therefore I, the Governor-in-Chief, do hereby proclaim and make known to all to whom it may concern, that Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the before-mentioned Ordinance; and further to allow that the provisions thereof should equally apply to the Weights and Measures used by the Customs, and others Her Majesty’s Revenue Officers within the Colony.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand, at
(L.S.) Government House, at Auckland, in the Province of New Ulster, this tenth day of May, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR directs it to be notified that the following Native Chiefs have been appointed Assessors for the District of Wanganui, under the “Resident Magistrates’ Ordinance,” 10th Victoria, Session 7, No. 16.
Hori Kingi, of Putiki, of the Ngatehau Tribe.
Wiremu Euera Tauri, of Orona, near Taupo, of the Ngataterangitii Tribe.
Tahana Hiro, of Manganuiateao, of the Patutokotoko Tribe.
Aperahama Parae, of Waitotara, of the Waitotara Tribe.
