PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor JOHN WALLIS BARNICOAT, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by an Act passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Protection of Animals Act, 1873," it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province in New Zealand, with the advice of his Executive Council, by Proclamation published in the Gazette from time to time to declare that imported Birds, not being "game," or any of them, may be shot, taken, or killed in such part or parts of the Province as in such Proclamation shall be described.

Now, therefore, I, the Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, pursuant to and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me in that behalf, do hereby declare that all Birds of the under-mentioned kinds imported into the Province of Nelson, or which shall be imported into the said Province, may be shot, taken, or killed, in that part of the Province of Nelson which is comprised within the limits of the Motueka Highway District, as constituted under "The Highways Act, 1872," of the Province of Nelson, that is to sayβ€”

Linnets.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Nelson, this 8th day of September, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

Nelson, September 7, 1876.

WHEREAS, at a meeting of the Motueka Highway Board, held at Motueka on the 5th day of August, 1876, an Order was made by the said Board under the provisions of "The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," directing the Alteration of certain Roads within the Motueka District, as described in the notice issued by order of the Board, and published in the Government Gazette of the Province of Nelson, No. 24, of the 22nd day of August, 1876.

Now therefore, I, JOHN WALLIS BARNICOAT, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, hereby give notice that the said Order will be taken into consideration, together with any objections thereto (if any) at the Superintendent's Office, Nelson, on Tuesday, the 26th day of September, 1876, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon.
