NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
Superintendent's Office,
Nelson, May 28, 1876.
THE Superintendent directs it to be notified that
in accordance with the provisions of "The
Education Act, 1863," He has appointed Friday, the
9th day of June next, at Twelve o'clock noon, for
the Election of a Local Committee of Education for
the District of East Takaka, and that the Election
shall be held at the School-house, at East Takaka.

ALTERATION OF ROADS UNDER "THE HIGHWAY
BOARDS EMPOWERING ACT, 1871," IN THE
MOTUEKA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
IT being deemed expedient by the Motueka Highway Board
to alter and divert the undermentioned roads in the
Motueka Highway District, survey plans of the several roads
proposed to be altered, together with books of reference, will
be deposited at the Secretary's Office, Lower Moutere, for a
period of forty days from the date hereof, where all persons
interested in the said alterations may inspect the same; and
any person objecting to such alterations is hereby called upon
to set forth in writing, addressed to the Secretary of the
Board, within the above-named period the nature of such
objections.
No. 1.—To stop up a road in the Riwaka Sub-District,
colored red on the plan attached to this notification, and
described as follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing near the north-west
corner of Section 56, Square No. 9, and running in a
south-easterly direction for a distance of about 15
chains: and thence stopping up a portion of the road
15 links wide, also colored red, and running in a
south-westerly direction for a distance of about 11
chains where it joins the public road at about 5 chains
north of the south-west corner of Section 50 on said
Square.
And to substitute in place thereof a certain other road 60
links in width, colored green on the plan attached to this
notification, and described as follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing about 20 chains west
of the north-east corner of Section 56, and running
all across said section in a southerly direction, and
thence in a westerly direction along the southern
boundary of said section for a distance of about 4
chains to where it joins the public road at the foot
of hills.

No. 2.—To stop up a road in the Riwaka Sub-District,
colored red on the plan attached to this notification, and
described as follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing at a public road
running along the sea beach, above high water mark,
at the north-east corner of Section 21, Square 9, and
running in a westerly direction for a distance of
about 21 chains to where it joins a public road across
a creek about 5 chains from the north-west corner of
said section.
And to substitute in place thereof a certain other road 75
links in width, colored green on the plan attached to this
notification, and described as follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing at a point about 2
chains from the north east corner of Section 27, and
running in a north-easterly direction along the top of
high water mark for a distance of about 24 chains,
and thence in an easterly direction for a distance of
about 6 chains, to where it joins the public road along
the sea beach.

No. 3.—To stop up a road in the Riwaka Sub-district, colored
red on the plan attached to this notification, and described as
follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing at a public road about
3 chains east of the north-west corner of Section No.
20, and running along the bank of the Motueka
River in a south-easterly direction for a distance of
about 9 chains,
And to substitute in place thereof a certain other road, one
chain wide, colored green on the plan attached to this notifi-
cation, and described as follows, viz.:—
That portion of a road commencing about 4 chains east of
the south-west corner of Section No. 20, Square No.
9, and running in a north-easterly direction for about
16 1/2 chains, and thence in a northerly direction for
about 6 1/2 chains, being along the present bank of the
Motueka River.
