REGULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF WESTPORT,
MADE UNDER SEAL.

IN Pursuance of the Powers contained in the Thirteenth Schedule to the "Municipal Corporations Act,
1867," the Council of the Borough of Westport doth, by special order, make the following Regulations,

BYE-LAW made by the Pangatotara Highway
Board for the protection and preservation of
the Banks of Rivers within the said District.

"If any horse, mule, ass, sheep, swine, or other
beast, or cattle of any kind, shall at any
time, after this Bye-Law shall come into
operation, be found depasturing, whether
under the tendance or control of any person
or persons, or not, in, or upon any road
bounded upon one side by any river within
the limits of the Pangatotara Highway
District, the owner of every such horse,
mule, ass, sheep, swine, or other beast, or
cattle of any kind, shall be deemed, and
taken to be guilty of a breach of this Bye-
Law, and shall for every such breach, upon
conviction thereof, forfeit and pay a penalty
of not exceeding Ten shillings for each
such animal depasturing as aforesaid: Pro-
vided that no penalty shall upon any one
such conviction exceed the sum of Forty
shillings.

"Or, any such horse, mule, ass, sheep, swine,
or other beast, or cattle of any kind, found
depasturing as aforesaid, may be driven to
the nearest Public Pound and impounded
therein."
