IT is hereby notified for general information that, in accordance with the provisions of Section 9 of "The Education Act, 1863," the undermentioned persons were duly elected Members of the Upper Moutere Local Committee of Education, at a meeting of Ratepayers held at the School-house, Upper Moutere, on Saturday the 28th November, 1874, at twelve o\'clock, noon.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
