NOTICE is hereby given, that at a Meeting of the Nelson City Council, to be held on Friday, the 18th day of December, 1874, at 6.30 p.m., at the Council Chamber, Nelson, it will be proposed by Councillor Burn that the Corporation of the City of Nelson do raise the sum of Two Thousand Pounds (£2000), by loan, upon the security of a Special Rate; such Special Rate not to exceed three-pence in the pound of the annual value of the property liable to be rated, such loan to bear interest at the rate of £6 per cent per annum, and to be applied for the purpose of defraying the cost of sewerage works, the principal and interest due upon the several debentures to be payable by half-yearly instalments upon the first day of August and the first day of February in each year, at the Bank of New Zealand, in Nelson.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the expiration of two months from the date hereof, to Grant Leases for Goldmining purposes of the Crown Lands within the District of the Nelson South-west Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz.:—
GREY DISTRICT.
- A block of land containing Nine acres two roods and thirty-five perches, more or less, situated at the junction of Sullivan's Creek and Swampy Gully. Applied for by John Baxter and others.
CHARLESTON DISTRICT.

A block of land containing Five acres, more or less, situated at Butchers' Gully, Candlelight. Applied by James Cairns and others.

A block of land containing Ten acres, more or less, situated on the Western bank of Darkey's Terrace. Applied for by William Morris, Manager of the Nile Cement Crushing Company, registered.
