IT is hereby notified, for general information, that

DAVID ROUGH, ESQ.,
has resigned his appointment as Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Nelson.

October 6, 1874.

THE Superintendent directs it to be notified that,
in accordance with the provisions of section 9
of the "Education Act, 1873," he has appointed
Saturday, the 24th of October instant, at 12 o\'clock
noon, for the Election of Six Persons to form a Local
Committee of Education for the District of Cobden,
and that the election shall be held at the Court-house
Cobden.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
