PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled, "The Nelson Special Settlements Act, 1872," it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, with the advice of his Executive Council, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province, to set aside out of the Waste Lands of the Crown within the said Province any block or blocks of Land for the purpose of SPECIAL SETTLEMENT : Now therefore I, OSWALD CURTIS, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, with the advice of my Executive Council, hereby proclaim and set aside for the purpose of Special Settlement the blocks of land hereinafter described, viz.:β€”

  1. HAMPDEN BLOCK.

All that block of land on the south side of the river Buller, containing 14,000 acres or thereabouts, the boundaries being as follows:β€”

Commencing at the mouth of Doughboy Creek on the bank of the river Buller, thence in a Southerly direction for a distance of four miles, thence in an Easterly direction for a distance of six miles, crossing the rivers Matakitaki and Blackwater, to the bank of the river Mangles, thence by the bank of the river Mangles to its junction with the river Buller, and thence down the river Buller to the mouth of Doughboy Creek: Excepting the Town and Suburban Sections of Hampden, all land held under license or lease, or which are now under application for lease or license under any of the provisions of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," or any Act amending the same now or here-
