NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
PROTECTION is hereby Granted, subject to the
following conditions, for Five Years from this
date under the provisions of "The Goldfields Act
1866," to LOUIS PENSINI for a TRAMWAY to be con-
structed by him from the Landing at the Junction of
the Rivers Buller and Lyell to the Lyell Township,
and the said Louis Pensini is hereby authorised,
subject also to the following conditions, to charge the
Tolls hereinafter specified during the term of this
Protection, viz :—
- Situation of line to be approved by the Pro-
vincial Engineer. - The Tramway to be commenced within one
month from this date, and completed, to the
satisfaction of the Provincial Engineer, by
the 30th day of November, 1873, and must
be kept in good working order and repair
during the whole of the term to the satisfac-
tion of the Provincial Engineer. - Tolls on Goods conveyed along the said Tram-
way shall not exceed Seven Shillings and
Sixpence per Ton. - The Superintendent reserves the right to
cancel this protection at any time during
the said term of five years, if any of the
above conditions are not carried out to his
satisfaction, and in the event of any com-
plaint arising, the Superintendent may
suspend the operation of this protection until
the matter has been enquired into and
decided upon. - Should this protection be cancelled, as pro-
vided by clause 6 hereof, the said tramway
shall become the property of the Provincial
Government, and the Superintendent shall
have the right to immediate possession
thereof; and the said Louis Pensini shall not
be entitled to any compensation or payment
for the same. - The right is reserved to the Government to
construct a road, tramway, or other means
of communication at any time during the
said term of five years between the said
Landing and Township without paying any
compensation to the holder of this protection. - This protection shall not be transferred or
assigned without the sanction in writing of
the Superintendent.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the
expiration of two months from the date hereof,
to grant Leases for Goldmining purposes, of the
Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-
west Goldfields hereinafter described, viz :—
CHARLESTON DISTRICT.
- A block of land containing six acres, more or
less, situated at Bromiclaw Creek, Charleston
District, applied for by John O'Regan and
another. - A block of land containing five acres, two
roods, and thirty perches, more or less,
situated at the Town Lead, Charleston,
applied for by James Sullivan. - A block of land containing eight acres, more
or less, situated at Brown's Terrace,
Charleston, applied for by William Rowe
and others.

to grant a Lease for Goldmining purposes, of the
Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-
west Goldfields hereinafter described, viz :—
INANGAHUA DISTRICT.
- A block of land containing ten acres, more or
less, situated at Head of Soldier's Creek,
about three miles south of Reefton, applied
for by Thomas Mulligan and party.

to grant Leases for Goldmining purposes, of the Crown
Land within the District of the Nelson South-west
Goldfields hereinafter described, viz :—
BULLER DISTRICT.
- A block of land containing twelve acres, more
or less, situated at Maori Creek, Mokihinui,
applied for by John Hamilton and others. - A block of land containing sixteen acres and
two roods, more or less, situated at Maori
Creek, Mokihinui, applied for by William
Hassan and others.
