IT is hereby notified, that it is intended, after the expiration of two months from the date hereof, to grant Leases for Gold-Mining Purposes of the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-west Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz.:—
-
A Block of Land, containing Four Acres, more or less, situated at Candlelight Flat, Charleston. Applied for by Charles Morfl and others.

A Block of Land, containing Three Acres One Rood and Twenty-six Perches, more or less, situated at Woodpecker Terrace, Brighton. Applied for by Endas M\'Cormick and others.

THE Gold-Mining Leases applied for by the undermentioned persons, for the Blocks of Land hereinafter described, will not be granted, and the ground is, therefore, now open for occupation, viz.:—

JOHN MOLLOY is hereby authorised, under the Provisions of Section XIII of \"The Gold Fields Act, 1866,\" to keep a Ferry Boat on the Totara River, and charge tolls, from the 1st January, 1872, to the 31st December, 1872, as per schedule, on the following conditions:—
-
That a competent Ferryman be always in attendance, with a good safe boat and proper rope for crossing horses.
-
That all Government Officers, including police, overseers, laborers, and postmen, when on duty, shall be ferried across the said river free of charge.
This protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent.
The Warden of the District shall, on being satisfied that the Ferry service is not being conducted in a proper and efficient manner, and in accordance with the above conditions, have power to suspend the operation of this protection until the matter of complaint be removed.
Schedule of Tolls authorised:
For each Passenger ... 6d.
For each Horse, including rider ... 2s. 6d.
