NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
Superintendent's Office,
Nelson, 6th January, 1871.
IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the expiration of Two Months from the date hereof, to grant Leases for Gold-mining purposes of the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson Southwest Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz.:β
-
A Block of Land, containing Nine Acres Three Roods and Eight Perches, more or less, situated at Giles's Terrace, Buller District. Applied for by PETER EWING and others.

A Block of Land, containing Six Acres, more or less, situated at Rochfort Terrace, Buller District. Applied for by JOHN MARSHALL and others.

A Block of Land, containing Six Acres, more or less, situated at Addison's Flat, Buller District. Applied for by GEORGE FORMAN and party.

A Block of Land, containing Ten Acres, more or less, situated at Giles's Terrace, Buller District. Applied for by ROBERT OXLEY and party.

A Block of Land, containing Eight Acres Two Roods and Sixteen Perches, more or less, situated at Giles's Terrace, Buller District. Applied for by ROBERT TENNANT and others.

THE Voters of the District of Cobden having neglected, on the day appointed for the purpose, to Elect Two Persons to fill the Vacancies in the Local Committee of Education for that District, the Superintendent has, in accordance with the provisions of the 10th Section of "The Education Act, 1863," appointed

Flax Commission,
Wellington, 8th December, 1870.
THE House of Representatives having resolved that there should be an Exhibition in Wellington during the next Session of the Assembly, of all varieties of Flax Fibre prepared in the Colony, Manufacturers are invited to forward to the Flax Commissioners, through the Superintendent of their Province, samples of the Fibre, Rope, Sacking, or other material, prepared by them from the New Zealand Flax.
The samples of Fibre should not be less than 20lbs. in weight, and ten or fifteen fathoms of each kind of Rope will be sufficient. It is desirable that a statement of the process and estimated cost of manufacture should accompany the samples.
