PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers in me vested and enabling me in that behalf, I do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the First day of February next, all that District of the Province of Marlborough lying between the Clarence river, the Conway river, the Seaward Kaikoura range, and the Sea, shall be deemed to be an INFECTED DISTRICT within the meaning of "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," and that no Cattle shall be allowed to be imported from that District into the Province of Nelson.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Nelson, this Tenth day of January, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

Nelson, 6th January, 1871.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the expiration of Two Months from the date hereof, to grant Leases for Gold-mining purposes of the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-west Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz:β€”

  1. A Block of Land, containing Five Acres, more or less, situated at Daylesford Terrace, Brighton. Applied for by BUCKLEY WESTON and others.

  2. A Block of Land, containing Three Acres Three Roods and Thirteen Perches, more or less, situated at Candlelight Flat, Charleston. Applied for by ROBERT TAYLOR and others.

  3. A Block of Land, containing Three Acres One Rood and Seventeen Perches, more or less, situated at Candlelight Flat, Charleston. Applied for by ROBERT WHITTLE and others.

  4. A Block of Land, containing Five Acres Two Roods and Thirty-four Perches, more or less, situated at Darkies' Terrace, Charleston. Applied for by THOMAS KYNE and others.
