Superintendent's Office, Nelson,
28th March, 1870.

PROTECTION is hereby granted for Six Months from 1st April next, under the provisions of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," to THOMAS BRADLEY for the right of Ferrying across Fox's River, for a distance of half-a-mile from the mouth of the river, and he is authorised to charge from 1st April, to 30th September, 1870, fares, as per Schedule, on the following conditions:β€”

  1. That a good safe Boat and competent Ferryman shall be at all times in attendance.
  2. That Government officers on duty shall be ferried free of charge.
  3. That this Protection shall not be transferred without the authority of the Warden of the district.
  4. That this Protection shall not affect the right of the Government to erect or grant Protection for any bridge within the protected limits.

For each person ferried between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. 1 0

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of Section 17 of the Gold-mining Lease Regulations, that the following Gold-mining Leases are declared forfeited, the Lessees having neglected to execute and take delivery thereof within a reasonable time, in accordance with the said section, viz.:β€”

  1. John Shearer: 9 acres 3 roods 32 perches, at Dawson's and Boatman's Terraces, Charleston. Published in Gazette No. 26, 1869.
  2. John Gidley and others: 3 acres 3 roods 29 perches, at Deadman's Terrace, Charleston. Published in Gazette No. 28, 1869.
